Blake Griffin's dunks on Pau Gasol

somebody already tried to take him out last week.

It's not like he is intentionally elbowing people, it just happens. No reason to be dirty b/c you got embarrassed on TV

It's close to an offensive foul, but Pau makes contact with Blake before Blake's arm hits Pau.

Doesn't matter if it's intentional or not, still an offensive foul.

It's close to an offensive foul, but Pau makes contact with Blake before Blake's arm hits Pau.

It could be called that way (wouldn't be correct), but if that's the case then Blake leading with forearm would be a dead-ball foul...an automatic flagarant 1.

Is this an OU board? I feel like I'm in the twilight zone. Aren't we supposed to be homers? Man, we are certainly quick to eat our own kind for posterizing one of the biggest babies in the NBA.

Offense has a huge advantage when driving to the lane in the NBA. For example LeBron James always tends to lower his shoulder and just ram his way to the rim. It's more than likely an offensive foul, but the NBA tends to never call it. Dunks, superstars, etc are good for the money side of the game.

People want to see exciting plays from the league stars. They don't want to see fouls called on offensive push offs.

Pau went in to try to deliver a hard foul to keep from getting posterized again. Instead, he ran into Blake's elbow and got posterized anyway.

dont agree with your guys complaint of the over the back call, blake just jumped over the guy..
however the other dunk was definitely a offensive foul. but last i checked this is an OU board and as far as im concerned, any highlight of blake is a plus for OU recruiting.....

Including the highlight of Jason Smith body checking him? Blake is asking for it. One of these days somebody is really going to meet his force with force and he will deserve it.

NO. Blake is playing how the NBA should be playing..just like they did in the 90s and before..old school NBA - PHYSICAL STYLE. Today's NBA is soft and lazy, he just doesn't fit in very well. He'd have a better time playing with Rodman, Malone, Barkley, David Robinson, etc. Todays' players are a bunch of pu$$ies.

90's basketball was not old school basketball. Barkley never played a lick of defense, and the Mailman didn't play much. Blake does fit in with that part, because he plays no defense, nor does anyone else on the Clips, so they have that going for them.

The NBA hasn't been very physical since the late 80's very early 90's. Blake has the potential to be a top 5 Power Forward all time, but he must at least TRY to defend someone. People can brag about a 2 point dunk, but the truth is Gasol abuses Blake in the post, because Blake plays no defense.

If you want to see guys who lock Gasol down and make him look soft/scared, watch a Laker/Thunder game. Also watch garnett defend Gasol. Against Blake, Gasol can get any shot he wants, just like last night. If Kobe/Bynum weren't killing that matador defense, Gasol could easily have gone for 30+, had he gotten more touches. His attempts were rarely even contested.

lol what bull****. So posterizing is worthy of cheap shots?

you m ake it sound like blake should be punished for a call not being made. No reason for cheap shots

I'm not saying punish Blake, just said when something like this occurs without consequences, players are known to respond negatively. Mentioned Barnes because he is one of the larger punks in the league. In a normal regular season game, maybe no retaliation...but get into a seven game series where you are banging against the same person every night, tensions will boil over.

Please tell me how the second one isn't an offensive foul?

What I see is a defensive foul. First, Gasol is inside the no charge area. Second, he is moving across the lane and taking away Griffin's path to the basket. I get that Griffin uses his off arm but given points one and two, I don't think it matters.

Being inside the charge circle is fine, you just can't try to take a charge, still allowed to elevate and contest a shot at the rim. Pau is allowed verticality meaning any contact in the air with a shooter is not a foul. He moves across the lane and elevates, can't really tell which direction he is jumping because his head is met with a forearm almost immediately, which throws him back.

I'd say the first one is closer to being a foul, of the over-the-back variety.

An over the back is non-existent in the NBA. I wouldn't say that was foul though. Blake just out jumped Gasol on the play. The second one at worst was a double foul but probably more so a offensive foul on Blake.

These highlight reel dunks by Blake make for good tv. It really is just a matter of time until someone really lays him out though. He's showing up everyone.

He's showing up everyone? duh. If they don't like it then they need to hit the weights and the sand and the track and the gym and the ...

I think the whole lot of you talking squack about Blake can get bent. His defensive issues are Vinny's right now, not Blakes'. He is doing exactly as his coach is advising him - and that comes straight from the horse's mouth.

Del Negro's telling him to loaf on defense, let weaker players like Gasol catch the ball wherever they want to, and use the matador technique when defending????

HMMMM, I wonder why Deandre Jordan didn't get the memo. He at least TRIES to defend the post.

I love Blake as much as the next Sooner, but PLEEEZE on the excuses for him loafing on defense.
