Bracketology: OU a #3 Seed

Although everything will change a ton over the next two months, this is nice to see and a far more important gauge than rankings. Bracketology (whether by Lunardi or any of the other experts) reflects what a team has actually accomplished, whereas polls are heavily influenced by preseason expectations.

The most important thing is that OU is going to end up with the #1 or #2 schedule in the country come tournament time by every metric that matters (Sagarin, KenPom, ESPN BPI, RPI, etc.). Not sure how NCAA net calculates SOS but it's bound to be similar. The tournament committee always rewards teams with tough schedules.

Bingo. There's always teeth gnashing around here over the "tough" early schedules, but it pays large dividends if you handle your business. If you beat up on patsies and stumble late you end up outside (see St. Mary's) the dance hanging with Biff and his busted nose.

Kruger is a master scheduler. Sometimes his teams are up to the task, sometimes they aren't. But our early slate this year will bump us up a notch or two on the seeding chart provided we continue to play well.

Well said, both of you. The fact that we will have a realistic chance to be in Tulsa in March (if we keep playing well) is incredible, especially given the general tone of this board coming into the season.

To me this just means if the wheels don't come off like last year, they can avoid the high powered teams on the 1st weekend as a 3,4,5 seed. If you make it thru the 1st weekend sometimes the bracket is wide open.

What seed did bracketology have us at last year..about this same time??

According to various blogs in bracketmatrix.com last year, OU was as high as a 2 seed from what I remember. But it is highly unlikely that this year's team craters not only based upon their stomach for the fight, but also the experience factor of having 6 seniors.
