Bruce Weber?: Tulsa World

Good coach/average recruiter was always my impression of Weber.

Might be a solid enough choice though.

I think he could be a solid head coach and an improvement from Capel. I think he fits the bill of cleaning up the current situation and then 5-7 years down the road handing it off to a better coach.

He's not my first choice, but I would take him in a heartbeat over Herb Sendek or anybody on the list provided by Doug Gottlieb.

This was my initial reaction. I certainly wouldn't be thrilled, but it wouldn't make me want to jump off of a bridge like some of the other names we've heard.

It would be hilaripus, if he hired Kellen as an assistant.

It would be, but it would never, ever happen. Bruce Weber hates Kelvin Sampson with the heat of a supernova.

I wouldn't be surprised if he is over that. Watching Kelvin flame out at Indiana probably comforted him.

Tony, can you tell us Bruce Weber's true feelings about Kelvin Sampson. I don't think I know yet.

From an Illini fan...

I have a feeling he'll go if he's offered.

Speaking of Weber

i'd rather have bruce vilanch.

this gets more depressing with each passing hour.

The more I think about this, meh. If you look at his numbers at Illinois he started really strong (with SElf's players) but when he had to recruit his own guys he has consistenly trended downward ever since. To me he would just be a shade above Herb Sendek. Yay.

You've got to be kidding. This is the best we can do? Unspectacular.

Maybe we are settling because this is the best we can do, but I also think it's a sign that Joe C. and Boren don't really give a **** about men's basketball.

I'll spend my money next year on improving my seats at the Womens' games.

He took over a program that was running as good as any in the country. It is now mediocre.

Add to that the fact that he had a major hand in turning Kelvin in and I'm no fan. Kelvin's still a part of the family, as far as I'm concerned.

Which of the "remaining" candidates has a better resume?

I can assure you the administration cares more than our pathetic fanbase... and your post illustrated that fact very effectively. You and fans like you are the problem, not part of the solution.
