Bruce Weber?: Tulsa World

I can assure you the administration cares more than our pathetic fanbase... and your post illustrated that fact very effectively. You and fans like you are the problem, not part of the solution.
BS!

Which of the "remaining" candidates has a better resume?

In my opinion this is one of those situations when you have to look at more than the resume. You need to look at trends. As much as some people like to malign Gregg Marshall for failing to make the tournament at Wichita, look at how his teams have performed in his four seasons there. They have gotten better and better with each subsequent season. Weber, on the other hand, seems to be getting worse.

Don't get me wrong, I don't feel that this would be a terrible hire. I do see some things that concern me, however.

JB got better each season.

hopefully ernie kent is thrown into the list of mediocrity.

I think the media is just throwin out names in desperation hoping one sticks.

Webber is a solid bench coach but recruiting has always been a question, though the last 2 years he has brought in seven 4star recruits, but no burger boy all americas.

His blowup w/ Sampson was over the recruitment of Eric Gordon who he had got to commit to illinois till Kelvin got the Indiana job and then Gordon later switched to indiana. Webber was pissed at Sampson for some ridiculous notion that Sampson owed webber a phone call that he was recruiting Gordon since he was committed to illinois.

Gordon was the highest rated recruit webber ever had commit to him at illinois

I'll add you to the list...

Our administration doesn't care?! You sure about that?

Let's see... our admin has built some of the best facilities in the country, provided a top 5 recruiting budget, and shown they will pay upwards of 2 million per year for a coach.

Our admin has done what they need to do. But our fans with your attitude have shown they don't care unless we're winning... problem not solution.

If I had to choose between 2 coaches in their 50s, Weber (54) and Jim Cleamons (58), I would choose Cleamons...although Weber has more college coaching experience, Cleamons has alot of intangibles that could benefit us in recruiting...and I don't think Phil Jackson would keep a guy around for so long if he couldn't coach a little...

They're here, complaining, aren't they? Seems like they care to me. Obviously the fan base as a whole is completely apathetic, but I don't think the people on this board are the problem.

Bring back Capel... I would rather buy back in then get this...

"Source close to the OU program tells me tonight Bruce Weber will be named the next OU head coach as early as Friday..."

@BrianABirchell

(For the record, I have no idea who the hell this guy is.)

Good Lord some of you are incredibly picky!! Beggars can't be choosers and right now we are one of the programs in worst shape in a BCS conference. To get a guy like Bruce Weber who's been to a Final Four would be a pretty decent hire. No it's not Tom Izzo, but come on!

If his ''11 class is loaded as some on that thread said.. I'm more interested.

He's got the #11 class on ESPN. Looks like a lot of Chicago guys.

who is brian birchell?

edit ...looks like he is some guy from KSBI in oklahoma city.....not sure if that is reliable
