Weber's good enough that nobody on the board even floated his name because they assumed we couldn't get him.
That's so true. Now people are griping.

He's won 70% of his games as a head coach. We could do waaaaay worse.

Thats b/c Indiana, Michigan, Northwestern, Penn ST, Minnesota and Iowa have been in the dumps for the majority of his tenure there.
I guess I'm in the minority when I say I would be somewhat excited by this hire. A Buzz Williams hire this is definitely not, but I would be more than content at this point.
Bruce probably isn't feeling the love at U of I anymore.
I bet Bruce could beat Chaminade.
Too soon?

We lost to a D-2 school whose nickname is a plant that looks like a giant dong...it's never too soon.

This isn't even accurate.
I question any coach that would leave Illinois to come here. I'm sorry, were not Kansas. Illinois is a top 10 college job w/ Chicago kids to recruit and the surrounding areas. Its one thing to leave Marquette, Minnesota, Memphis, UNLV, Wichita St, and Tennessee(which were some college coach's names being thrown out there) to come here, but its obvious that if Weber leaves, he is simply jumping ship before he is pushed overboard with his feet and hands tied.
not to be forgotten he took southern illinois to the sweet 16
Their fan base has unrealistic expectations and is trying to run him out of town, I can easily see why he would come here.
