Bruce Weber?: Tulsa World

Weber's good enough that nobody on the board even floated his name because they assumed we couldn't get him.

It makes sense that he would want to leave though. With a few notable exceptions, most solid coaches go in stints of 5-10 years per college. Things get stale, they move on, they want another challenge. I think that the 6-7 year timeframe is when fans of moderately successful teams start to get restless about "taking the next step".

Bruce probably isn't feeling the love at U of I anymore.

What's sad is that half the people on twitter think it's a photographer that's trending not a basketball coach.

Thats b/c Indiana, Michigan, Northwestern, Penn ST, Minnesota and Iowa have been in the dumps for the majority of his tenure there.

So I guess that means we have to hire a guy who's won 90% of his games? :facepalm

We lost to a D-2 school whose nickname is a plant that looks like a giant dong...it's never too soon.

I question any coach that would leave Illinois to come here. I'm sorry, were not Kansas. Illinois is a top 10 college job w/ Chicago kids to recruit and the surrounding areas. Its one thing to leave Marquette, Minnesota, Memphis, UNLV, Wichita St, and Tennessee(which were some college coach's names being thrown out there) to come here, but its obvious that if Weber leaves, he is simply jumping ship before he is pushed overboard with his feet and hands tied.

Their fan base has unrealistic expectations and is trying to run him out of town, I can easily see why he would come here.

I guess I just don't understand how a guy that can't make the tourney from the MVC is a better candidate than a guy that makes it almost every year from the Big 10.

He does have the number 11 recruiting class according to ESPN. Not saying they would all come, if any, nor does it mean they'd be good, i.e. TMG and TG, but that does give me a little hope...

are there that many fans who want him gone ? I just did a quick run through a couple message boards and sure there are a couple people who want him gone but the majority of what I saw was they liked how he ran their program. Of course they also have a big time class coming in and don't want to lose those guys.
