In case anybody hears first please let us know - didn't seem normal him not being in there down the stretch especially considering he won us the game in the 2nd half.

Apparently sitting him was a coaches decision made for defense.

Lon just said on the radio that buddy was fine. He had Jelon in because he thought that was the best option on defense.

I don't think an injury had anything to do with it. The coaches wanted the best ball handlers on the floor in the final minutes. Buddy tends to get a little sloppy with the ball sometimes. If we were behind and needed the score more than ball control, I feel sure Buddy would have been out there.

I assumed LK prefered Hornbeak over Buddy for ball handling purposes.

Woodard is the weak link defensively, but u have to have him in to get the ball up the court.

Might have been lip service by coach there. Shaky ball handling or not, I'd prefer to have Hield in the game late (close game) then the Hornbeak we currently have.

If I'm not mistaken, I think Hield was taken out immediately after he missed a three point shot from the corner. I didn't think it was a horrible shot, but it was quick, and decently defended. Crutchfield had something to say to Buddy immediately afterwards.

I think you are right and I agree with you.

I can't think of any spot where a top scorer sits like that. Should KD sit for the Thunder because he is an average defender and averages about 3-4 turnovers a game? Our defense didn't really stop Baylor till the last possession.

Again, nothing would have changed with Hield in. We were able to get the ball into Woodard every time, which is what we wanted, and what we would have wanted even with Buddy out there.
Woodard has the most FT made in the Big 12.
He missed a couple big ones today. Oh well. It happens.

LK was sending a message about poor shot selection/decision making late in games. I'm sure Buddy got the message and this won't be an ongoing issue.

Good point.

Well, KD does get sloppy with the ball sometimes. ;)

You say that but Lon and crew aren't immune to some bad decisions when it comes to who's on the court.

1- Clearing the bench against La Tech with 5 minutes to go in the first half likely cost us that game.

2- Having Woodard on the bench down the stretch against KSU wasn't the best decision either considering how poorly we finished.

If it was to send a message to Buddy that's fine, you just wish it wouldn't be in this kind of game.

After the KSU game Kruger said that the reason for Woodard being out was that if they were going to go deeper in the the Big 12 and in the tourney, Jelon was going to have to be there for them. Today may have been for a similar reason. I love this about this coaching staff! They are not just looking for one win, but they are after "Bigger Things"! They know what it takes to win a conference, and how to make deep runs in both conference/NCAA Tourneys! They know Jelon has been in a funk and needs some confidence. They are two or three moves ahead! Maybe we win @KSU if Woodard is in the game, and maybe we don't struggle down the stretch in this game if Heild is in... But Lon & company are thinking bigger than one game, they are out for bigger things than one win!

Lets all take this in: this team is about a year ahead as far as success goes. How many of us back in 2010 would have thought this team would be in this position after only being in the midst of year 3? Even after last year there was no one who predict this kind of start. I repeat, NO ONE! Yet here we are after nearly a third of our conf games sitting tied for 2nd in the standings! Everyone in this forum would have taken the position we are sitting in right now. It would have been a no brainer... Some of would have sold our first children for us to sitting here!
