The former Oregon/Missouri player could be a similar player to Buddy. The knock on him was size at 6'3" and low assist ratio. He went undrafted after declaring after his junior year. Getting some run with the Lakers.

I think that's a fair comparison. buddy is a bit more athletic. I also think it's a great argument for coming back one more year...

NBA draft.net has Buddy 22nd overall to mavs, and DraftExpress has him at 45...huge discrepancy between the two. If it's closer to the latter, he should stay

nbadraft.net is a fan site with no credibility
There's plenty of good info on nbadraft.net. They just tend to overrank players based on their college stats in their early rankings. It usually shakes out by the end.

If anything, I'd hope Buddy would look at Brown a cautionary tale. Not only did he go undrafted after declaring early, but it took him the better part of 4.5 months in the D-league before he was able to get his shot in garbage time for a horribly depleted Lakers roster. Brown is undoubtedly making the most of his opportunity right now, but it'll still be an uphill battle for him to make the 15 man next season once they get healthy and/or make moves in the offseason.

Guys like Brown prove that there can be opportunities in the NBA for players like Buddy. On the other hand, it definitely shows that it can be a grind requiring some good fortune to get there. As many others have said, it just kind of comes down to Buddy's personal priorities. I really wouldn't fault him either way.

Some of you are acting like Buddy cares if he goes in the first or not. I'm not sure that is the case.

I don't mean he doesn't care, he wants to go in the first round, but I'm not so sure his decision to leave early is directly tied to being a likely 1st round pick. Sounds like if he is ready to go, he is going to go.

I was always under the impression that he would leave for sure if he was getting consistent first round feedback (as he should). If not, it's still up in the air, but the likelihood of his return increases dramatically. Of course, this is all reading between the lines of what he and Kruger said in Syracuse.

That goes against the narrative that's been painted by pretty much everyone around the situation.

The higher he's likely to be picked, the more likely he is to leave. I think, like many, that there's strong correlation between the two.

if you declare and don't hire an agent you have until TOMORROW to withdraw ..

True, but Buddy hasn't ever opted in. The NCAA deadline for early entry withdrawal is April 15th, but the NBA's early entry eligibility deadline is April 27th so Buddy has another couple of weeks to decide. It will be interesting to see how many players opt out of the draft tomorrow.

As I understand it, it's the NCAA deadline that matters most because if he withdraws from the draft after the NCAA deadline, he can't return to OU. I guess he could withdraw from the draft and go play in Europe but that wouldn't make much sense.

Buddy really is right on the edge and it's due to his height. Nothing that will change in a year. He just has to weigh a year of earnings versus another year of school.

His draft stock is not going to increase one way or the other. He pretty much is what he is.

I keep hearing the height question being brought up but when you look at the overall picture there have been many successful 6"4 shooting guards such as Byron Scott, D Wade, Eric Gordon (by the way I think Buddy is taller than Eric) met Eric and Coach Sampson when Indiana came down for a summer tournament a few years back. Ej can flat out ball inside outside threat injuries have hampered him in his pro career.

Back then, did you post 134 times on the Hoosier board?

I saw Buddy tweet that he was going to keep his "inner circle" small. A wise idea when he now has all these new "pals" and "cousins" reaching out.

As Ada mentioned, I'll root for Buddy regardless of decision...

Disagree. He had moments of inconsistency -- where he was really hot and really cold. In the tournament, he was solid but unspectacular. He can certainly be a better senior than he was a junior and the questions about his shot, handles, ability to get to the rim vs. contact, etc could go away. He won't get taller, but he could assuage some of those inconsistency concerns.

I'm not saying he won't go this year but he could definitely improve his stock as a senior. Delon Wright has. Napier did last year despite concerns about his height.
