That was Bufords best game by far. He moved purposefully for the most part and looked confident. I hope he gets a lot of time on the court this year because we will need him to be accurate and aggressive next year.
If the freshmen: Buford, James, and Odomes can develop an outside shot like Buddy and Isiaih have, they will all be playing in the NBA down the line. Buford has great size and athleticism, he just needs to develop his skillset.
He's Spangler's only back-up unless we go small. We need him to improve so we can get Spangler some rest in conference season. He looked very good last night. I actually thought he turned the tide for us from tight game to blow out.
It makes me wonder what was going on with Dante in the 5 game stretch where he was averaging just single digit minutes of basically mop up duty. Unless it was some kind of punishment, I just don't see how you keep a guy like that on the bench.
I've been pleasantly surprised by Buford's play the last 2 games. After playing just 17 total minutes in the previous 5 games, he has gotten 26 minutes in the last 2 games including 16 minutes yesterday. He's playing good post defense and been very active.
He has been Spangler's backup but was on the floor along with Ryan yesterday. It makes us small but they can both extend from the paint and make our defense more aggressive.
