Not saying either is going to happen. Buzz is realistic, but not necessarily going to happen. Pitino is coaching at a school that historically is a step down from OU, but there is a 0.00001% he is being targeted and a 0.000000001% chance he would take the job. For the sake of fun, who would you rather have as our next coach.

Now I am ready for someone to say neither with Marshall and Shaka as the better choice!! LOL

Buzz.

Pitino doesn't seem to have the same "it" factor he did while at UK.

How is LOUISVILLE a step down from OU in basketball?

Are you sure you didn't take some schrapnel in the cerebellum?

Pitino is almost done . Used to be a good coach but I"m not sure now. I think he is on the downward path.

Pitino was always one of my favorites but sounds like he is about ready to wrap his career up soon. Not for us.

The stats don't lie. Do you have a short memory? Please explain to me how Louisville has peformed better than OU in the modern era.

One way is... since the NCAA tournament went to 64 teams in 1985..OU has been to 5 Final Fours and Louisville has been to 1. Another way is..OU is THE school in the state. People in Louisville have griped for years about how they are 2nd fiddle to UK. (very similar to what you hear from OSU fans here.)

With all that said...No way Pitino leaves UL for OU.

As of 2008:

OU: 10 conference titles (4 regular-season, 6 tourney); 20 20-win seasons; 4 30-win seasons; 19 NCAA berths; 5 No. 1 seeds, the fifth-most since 1984-85; 2 Final Fours; 6 All-Americans; win over No. 4-seeded Arizona in 1999; 0 losing seasons

Obviously we had two losing seasons now.

Louisville: 16 conference titles (7 regular-season; 9 tourney); 2 30-win seasons; 17 NCAA berths; 9 Sweet 16s; 1986 national championship

The title in 1986 is great, but when looking at the overall picture, OU has performed better.

Denny Crum is still the modern era sports fans.

Let's go 1975 to 2001:
2 national championships (already beats OU just on this)
8 sweet 16's
1 Elite eight
2 Final Fours (aside from their NC's)

and that doesn't include the 2 Elite Eights and a Final Four under Pitino.

Louisville is >>>>> OU in basketball. sorry.

Good points and all you need to do is look at the home attendance every game.

I was referring to modern era (i.e. since the tourney expanded to 64/68 teams). I don't care what happend in 197?. OU would have good attendance with the right coach.

OU would have good attendance with the right coach.

Did you just start watching OU basketball last week or something?

OU has an attendance problem that transcends whoever is the coach. This is empirically proven.

I agree with the attendance problem. OU has always been a good program but the attendance, especially during the non-conference, is almost embarrassing. People used football as an excuse but that never made sense to me. We have had a lot of good teams over the past 25+ years. Not counting the last 2.

True!!

Smartass (I mean COOLM), I have been watching college basketball at LNC for quite some time. OU has historically had a problem with basketball attendance. That being said, when OU has great seasons and marquee players (i.e. early 2000's and Blake Griffin), OU has had much better attendance.

The right coach and the right players = better attendance.

To follow your smartass routine: Did you just start learning to read? I said good attendance, I didn't say fill the LNC on every game.

I agree with the right coach/right players but don't you agree that the attendance lacks during non-conference?

well DUH. You can't base attendance numbers on the stellar years when all the bandwagoners jump on.

Blake Griffin is "the 'right' kind of player"? again DUH. There's a reason he's so special....because he only comes around every 20 years or so.

You hafta base attendance on average seasons with average players - that's the 83% of the bell curve.

btw - I'd rather be a smartass than a dumbass.
