Another one of the best keep secrets in Norman is the Library. In fact it was such a secret to me that during college I had no idea it even existed. Now it has become probably my favorite bar in Norman.

Yeah when you say to people you love the library, they think you are talking about the place with the books. In the words of Tiny Gallon, "SMH......"

Anybody used to go to the Vista? Don't get me wrong, I always thought the place was kind of a dump, but it's kind of sad that it's closed.

Ah, The Library. Mike Stoops favorite joint in Norman. I miss buying beer at the ripe old age of 15 at Shortstop and trying to figure who were mobsters and who weren't at Toto's. Joe's Taverna is home to the best Coors Light, ahem Natty Light, you'll ever find.

I grew up in Norman and my mother brought home Shuttle from work at least once a week. Now that I live in Tulsa I have to eat Shuttle every time I'm back in Norman. When we drove down for the U2 concert last fall we stopped on the way out of Norman at midnight for a TBS. I felt 20 all over again.

I've heard that a place called Primetime Pizza in Jenks tastes just like Shuttle. Haven't been there yet, but I plan on going soon. No waxy cups or high delivery drivers though.

Ah, the Taverna. We spent many a night there. We had a real love/hate relationship with Big Joe. He loved us because we spent a lot of money in his establishment but he hated us at times because of our boorish behavior.

Electric lemonades and mind erasers at the service station. Dont remember some of those nights. LOL

The Vista was the only place in town with the Sunday Ticket. My wife (girlfriend at the time) and I went there all the time on Sundays in the fall to watch the Colts.

Because of that, The Vista turned into our hangout at night, too. I'm sad to see the Vista go. It had gone (way) down in recent years, but it had a lot of sentimental value to me.

Mr. B,

you should copy and paste this into a new thread, i'm sure a lot of people are missing out...

Totally in need of its own thread! I'm swamped with memories as well! Mr. B I bet we knew a lot of the same people...I ran with the heads at times...graduated in '00

Let's get a "college memories" thread or something and I'll throw down as well.

It became Mr. Bill's when I was there. .75 cent Amber Bocks...so crappy but so cheep cheep! Only went in there for those beers and Hosty solo...too many tools in there.

There and the Mont where the two places I drank. I was even a beer snob in college and The Library was the only place to get a "good" beer. Still love that place.

Yeah...went there for nicely poured liquor drinks and to play trivia.

LMFAO...when I was in school, the Amber Bocks were even cheaper if I recall correctly. And they had dart boards.

Ok, so maybe I hit up 4 bars all the time :)

He had a pocket full of horses
****ed the **** out of bears
Threw a knife into heaven
And could kill with a stare
He made love like an eagle
Falling out of the sky
Killed his sensei in a duel
And he never said why

LOL mr. Bill's!!! That place was like right across the way from the house I lived in. We would go there all the time because we could walk home after. Most often we would stop in at Stubbeman on the way home to pick up a pizza from Papa Johnnies

Sunday night 99 cent Whoppers ar Burger King kept me alive!!! Back then the dining halls closed on sunday evenings, and it was every man for himself. I could always bum 99 cents just leaving the dorms. LOL. I actually lived in the old Cross Center dorms, which are a huge parking lot now. We had no A/C, etc, but the girls out in Cross Center were a little more down to earth, to use a respectful term.:dance005: I worked 40+ hours a week at the Little Ceasars Pizza which was located back then, in the bottom of Adams Tower. I made a whopping 4.35 an hour to cook pizzas and deliver pizzas to all of the rich frat kids.

I would gladly go back just to play hoops all day/night in the Huff N Puff. Thanks guys for the memories... Man I'm getting old.

I remember the 99 cent whoppers, although I always got the bbq bacon cheeseburger. I'll never forget, I was a naive country boy and some pledge brothers of mine ordered water at BK but put Sprite in the cup. I remember I was flabbergasted that somebody would do that. LOL!

Loved playing basketball at huff-n-puff. Loved huff-n-puff.

The wife and I love the library. I, too, never knew it was there until after my college days were done.

The service station was great when I was in college, but I can never find that place. I actually think it's closed now, or seems like somebody on the O'C said that a few years ago.
