Service Station is still alive and kickin. Went there for a burger a couple of football seasons ago

Norman memories 1997-2001:

The Deli - packed and sweaty when Hosty or JFJO were in, Linville Sunday nights, red cups, met my wife there.

The Library - Bad ass pizzas, IPAs that give you lockjaw from the hops, bartender would begin pouring my roommate and my drinks when we walked in the door. 1st date with previously mentioned wife there. Lived a block away, was running home drunk once because it was cold, slipped and fell flat on my face. Next day we had to introduce ourselves for the new semester, the guy in front of me said he was from Lawton where you'd get hit for looking at someone wrong. I was next with, "Not from Lawton but just got back from there," laughs all around...

Service Station - 1850s-era bar and cheap Coors Light

Vista - Trivia night (our table nickname was "Hunch," we screamed it everytime we won a round; we had a sports guy, history guy, and lit guy and others - we killed), Monday night football drinking old style big glass pitchers of 6 pt Shiner and trying to guess what play came next on the trivia boxes. 3 hours of that and I could have gotten a DUI for being on the elevator!

2.99 Old Mil sixers at the Sunshine Store

Making breakfast for Switzer at the Lovelight

Washing cars (among other things) with Hootie Wiley at the full service carwash behind Target

Doing crosswords with Hosty at La Baguette

Benny on Elm St. - good landlord. Coltrane - horrible landlords

Getting fried rice to go from the Union then sitting down and eating it because they put more rice in their to go boxes and I often could only afford to eat once a day (that money had to go to beer). Also Cici's to stuff for the single meal a day (my brother and I called it storing)

---------------------
I grew up loving OU football and basketball both, but going there gave me a sense of school pride I'm thankful for to this day. It also gave me a wife, and indirectly, my little girl (in a few months, that is)! Dang, I'm all verklempt here! Talk amongst yourselves. BOOMER!

The Library is truly badass. I watch most of the OU road games there.

Pepe Delgado Burrito was my double meal. Love hearing other folks memories; being a fan doesn't require that you went to OU and I'm one of those that is the "more the merrier". That said, when you've invested four (okay, 5 1/2) years in a place pretty much all day everyday, you gain a different perspective.

damn I'm such a nerd. Loved loved LOVED my time at OU, but did not do anything that nearly met the excitement level of most that are posting here. :ez-laugh:
