Same as above. Only thing that might change. Doolittle for manek.

But we need manek to space the floor.

Same but this could be a fun lineup:

Calixte
Reynolds
Bienemy
James
Doolittle

If defense is going to be an emphasis, then any starting lineup will have Odomes and Muni. They will be the best defenders on this team - unless Calixte, Reynolds or Bienemy are something we are not expecting.

I don't see a starting lineup other than these four Muni, Manek, James, Odomes and whoever starts at the point - likely Calixte.

I think Jamal will be better than most think. I think we will need that scorer off the bench.

BT, everything we know right now points to the five players on your list as the odds on favorites to be in the starting lineup when the season tips off.

Doolittle may change that if he returns to the type of player—only more experienced—we saw as a freshman. I’m also a huge Jamal Bieniemy fan. But, replacing TY with Calixte in a starting lineup we saw last year makes too much sense to believe that’s not what we’ll see from the get-go this season.

I agree with what everyone has said as far as the likely starters.

I think Doo will get plenty of minutes if he has bounced back from last year, and I expect Bienemy and Reynolds to also play important roles. We really need a couple guys to consistently shoot the three well -- hopefully Manek solves his issues away from the LNC, and it sure would be nice if James could give us a consistent senior season. We had far too many games last season, especially on the road, where the outside shooting was MIA -- it cost us several wins. Of course, if the defense is much better this season, we will have a better chance of winning games on poor shooting nights.

Oh I agree, my starting lineup is the same as the OP. That was just my version of a "death" lineup where you have as much playmakers/shooters as possible and a smaller, athletic 5 man.

Also if Muni is the 2nd best defender on this team then he either improved a ton or OU will be bad defensively again. He was a very poor defender last year.

I don't see any way that the initial starting 5 is different from that unless Doo is absolutely ballin out in practice and gets the nod over Manek or if Lon doesn't start Calixte as part of his punishment for his arrest.

I think Doolittle starts instead of Manek. I know it was doo's fault, but this year he had the full preseason practice time he missed last year

I was very excited about Doolittle his freshman year. I want to get back on the Doo train but he just doesn't seem to consistently score enough. He's had a couple of breakout games, but for the most part not enough. The thing is I think he can I just don't think he has the mentality to for some reason. It's weird..

On-ball, low-post defender, I would agree with. But if you play tight man-to-man you are going to get beat occasionally and Muni can erase shots like few who have ever played at OU. He is a difference-maker on defense in that way. Sort of like a young Serge Ibaka.

he was also horrid against the pick and roll

4. Odomes- 6-10
5. calixte- 6-10

6. Doolittle 6-10
7. Reynolds 6-8
8. Jamal Bieniemy 6-8
9 freeman
10. kur
11. polla

Then we aRe going to be in some trouble.

He should be able to find 6 dunks and 4 FT’s a game.

I think it depends on his ability to stay out of foul trouble so he can play close to 30 minutes a night. I think 12 pts a game might be a realistic prediction if he can do that. He showed last year that when he avoids foul trouble and plays aggressively, he is more than capable of big games, but he also had a lot of games where he was a nonfactor. Now that he is the unquestioned starter and most experienced big, we need him to eliminate the latter.

Also, my guess is that Manek, not James, is the leading scorer. I think by this point, we kind of know what James is and I don't see that changing a lot his senior year. Manek, on the other hand, has a lot of room to grow from last season.

Coach, I hate to disagree with you but I just don’t see us averaging 32 ppg from James and Muni. I think Manek will be our high scorer. Our Achilles heel will be scoring or generating a consistent offense. James has been inconsistent and Odomes has been limited offensively for 3 years. I just don’t see a drastic change as seniors. I do like what I’m hearing about Calixte.

As far as a starting offense, what you have is a no brainer, but to be a little different I’ll sub in Doolittle for Odomes in conference play..... for more size and muscle.

I’m not real worried about who starts. The great John Havlicek who won several NBA 6th man awards said “It doesn’t matter who starts, it’s who finishes that counts”.
