Cameron Clark is averaging 6ppg in the last 8 games

Cam has played very soft the last few weeks...disappointing because he is capable of much more.

Cam isn't what I would call a "skilled" basketball player. He is big, and he is very athletic, but he is raw in the skill department. That is why, before the season even started, I said he would struggle some this year. He wouldn't be taller/more athletic then most of the guys he went up against in college, and he wasn't skilled enough, YET, to make up that difference.

Kid has talent, but I can see him being a Tony Crocker too. A guy you think will get better, but that really doesn't change much in 4 years.

Just wish our guys weren't so content with hanging around the arch. Things happen when we drive the ball in.

That's what the Duke offense looks like when implemented anywhere but Duke or any coach besides Kalphabet.

The "capel over coach" comment was made by Cam's dad on this message board last week.

I got the feeling from that post that Cam may not be real happy in Norman, but maybe I'm wrong. I think he would stick if Capel was fired and we hired the right coach.

Sounds like a lot of whining to me. Is Capel "over coaching" him so much he can only average less than 4 rebounds in 35+ minutes? Did Capel's coaching style really change that much when he was averaging double digits in scoring during the 4 game win streak to now?

I went back and did a search of his posts and found this gem from late November:

Capel need to let the leash off of Cam,and let him play his game.Capel also need to run some plays for him.

I can't believe Cam isn't rebounding because he's Capel has the leash on him, but this may explain some of his less aggressive tendencies on offense.

Just a thought...

Or, his less aggressive tendencies on offense could come because he's physically and mentally weak, and avoids contact at all costs, which is why he refuses to go to the rim and why he refuses to rebound.

I tend to believe it's what you stated based on what I've seen, but I was adding his dad's comment because I thought it was interesting.

I will also add, his less aggressive play does not add up considering how he played in high school. In a high school game, he had some teeth knocked out or something and came back into the game to finish it and win the game for his team. He also was very aggressive taking the ball to the basket. However, as we know, high school is a different animal from D1 basketball.

Ding, ding, ding.

I've never known Capel to handcuff anybody on offense. That is actually one of the things I DON'T like about him. Everybody has an equal opportunity to score/shoot.

We're 12-17...seriously doubt Capel is "handcuffing" people at this point.

I love Cam and me thinks he will be a good part of our getting better in the future. Do I think he is very aggressive? No. I did not think he would be because of his handles. I am not blaming this on Capel. I have no idea why he is not aggressive other than most frosh are not. I saw something in TJ that told me he was fearless on the court. I did not see that in Cam. I am sorry if that is ragging on him.
