Can you guys explain some Trump things to me?

If you are worried it is B, then you should be against mail in voting. It could affect both parties and the country in a bad way.

I want to avoid any questions of voter fraud...shouldn’t we all?
I want to avoid a 2000 Florida fiasco. If mail in voting is expanded and pushed, there is a great chance it will be a contested election.

And if it is left to the states, I guarantee you that the swing states ran by Democrats will take away any restrictions for mail in voting

Mail in voting is already allowed. 6% of voting was done by mail last election. Only 50% of voting last election was on Election Day in person.

Hang on right there....... "if it is left to the states". I want to be clear on what you are suggesting right there. What you are basically saying is "if the Constitution is followed".... Because voting is left to the states, by the Constitution, with ONLY Congress having the ability to change anything.

I want you to agree or disagree, right here and now, that the President of the United States should have no role in this process.

Tell me where you stand on that.

I never said the POTUS should be involved in the process.

I never said the POTUS should be involved in the process.

Should the Constitution be followed, and voting processes decided by the States?

Keep in mind, we had votes during:
The Civil War
WWI
WWII
The Great Depression
Etc.

Yes...and I never said anything to the contrary

Ok, so you want the Constitution followed, but you don't want the states to allow mail-in voting, which has already been used in previous elections for decades.

Is that right?

People make both right and wrong decisions thus states themselves do the same thing. Not all decisions made by states are one or the other, but a mixture of both, so states, as it relates to voting, can institute a process which is most verifiable as opposed to going the alternate route. Sometimes accuracy matters.

I never said that I don't want the states to allow mail in voting.

So no, that is wrong.

Just to make it clear...i find Trump's statement ridiculous. I believe it was tongue in cheek and he wasn't serious...but that doesn't make it any less stupid.

But I do find validity in his concern over mail in voting.
Democrats are really pushing it under the disguise of safety and covid.
But their real intentions are pretty obvious.

If mail-in voting was never done and this was a new concept, I would agree.... But the fact that its a standard part of our voting apparatus, I don't agree.

We should look up percentages of mail-in votes from 2016, 2012, 2008, 2004, 2000, etc... See what percentage of that was done by mail. For example, the military always votes by mail. Lots of people vote by mail. Anyway, lets see what the normal percentage is, and then come up with a plan to keep it roughly the same.

Extend voting from November 3rd to November 8th. That way fewer people show up to vote in person at the same time, and it allows time on weekends for people to vote. Announce the winner on November 8th. Open voting promptly at 7am, and close it at 10pm, each of those days.

Because we have no respect for voting in this country, voting is on a Tuesday, its not a national holiday, most people don't take off work to vote. This solves many problems.

More people will likely vote this way, less people per day, less chance of spread, and maybe the mail voting will stay in normal range.

Something like that?

He sure does this a lot then.

What are the real intentions?

Yeah can't argue with this. extended voting period would help a bunch

It’s to show you that Trump’s argument to not allow mail in voting is dumb because it’s been allowed. He’s just making up the narrative if he loses.

I don't doubt that part of his angle is creating a narrative.

But 6% of the election being mail in is not a problem and trump himself said in the tweet that he is fine with standard absentee voting.

The issue is a big push for no restrictions on mail in voting.

I see that as problematic. We have issues getting an accurate count as is with in person. I can't imagine the legal battles and headache of expanding main in ballots. It won't be good for the country IMO

One aspect of life ,which has value, is to know when a person is serious and when they are not.

Some people are serious all of the time while others mix it up and this poses a problem for those who are not good at reading people and are thusly easily duped.

As individuals we do not get to choose who people are, but we do get to choose whether we make the proper interpretations. If you dislike someone ,good for you,, but that does not change who they are.

It also won’t be good to have voting numbers down & Covid cases up if they don’t allow people with concerns to mail in their vote.
