Capel Adds Newell, Ahmed to OU Recruiting Class

Great to see the staff work hard and find some late additions that they deem worthy of 'ships. I have heard that Coach Goodman did some nice work in finding Ahmed.

Coach Capel mentioned that they weren't going to just fill the ships with bodies just to have bodies. In fact, he said they probably weren't going to take but two or three guys (at the time that we only had TJ, Cam, and Neal. The fact that he has added 5 makes me think that he found some late additions that he really liked.

It is going to sure be interesting to see how all these new guys gel and work together. I hope Cade is up to the challenge of leading the team. We are going to need him.

Next year is going to be very interesting....a bunch of unknowns other than Cam Clark and TJ Taylor. It's going to be fun watching this team develop.

If nothing else I feel like this team will be fun to watch. I just hope that they're ready to sell out on defense.

Its weird that random fans give 100% of the credit for developing big men to Cline, when both Griffins and Longar all credited Capel just as much or more for their development. As I have said many times before, Capel has made enough mistakes as it is. No need to take all credit away for what he has done well.

:clap:clap:clap

Good stuff sir.:woot

Great news!!!!! Glad to see the coaches working hard to land some players late. The uypcoming season should be fun to watch as we get to know the new Sooners....

Buenvenidos Senor Ahmed a los Estados Unidos de America.

The fruit of Coach Capel and the other assistant coache's labor is the reason I didn't panic the last few weeks like some on this board. I will be honest. I knew about Blair, Newell, and Ahmed. I thought C.J. was a long shot, but am very happy to have him on the team because I believe he is related to an aquaintance of mine, U.L. Washington that used to play for the K.C. Royals back in the day. The Washington family is known for being pretty level headed, athletic, and hard working people. I have relatives in Stringtown that know them. We have one hurdle to clear in this whole mess. It's looking pretty good right now. After that everything should be back to normal. BOOMER SOONER BABY!!!

What have you heard about Blair, Newell and Amad (s). If you have heard anything, who would you compare them to.

FFS,

If you knew about these 3, why would hold out on us?

Trust me. It's not a matter of holding out on anyone. If you notice when everyone on here was feeding you the doom and gloom bull. I just kept saying let it all play out. As a matter of fact if you go back in my post history. I let one go one day about a player (Blair) transferring from a D-1 school that would be able to play for us next season. Things are not 100% in the clear yet, but I think we will be fine. Don't forget we are still in the process of cleaning of a NCAA mess. BOOMER SOONER BABY!!!

You sure must be close to the coaching staff as the grad assistants didn't even know about Ahmed until Goodman informed them the day before the announcement.

Nope. Don't have to be close to the coaching staff. Let me revise my statement and be more specific. Remember them talking about Coach Goodman maybe going oversees to recruit a player. Well one of the places he was going oversees to London where Ahmed played ball. I shouldn't have claimed to know about Ahmed specifically. Just the fact that there was a player we were after from there. Now Blair and Newell are a different story. Plus what does it matter now that I think about it. The doom and gloom that many on this board predicted was so untrue. OU BASKETBALL STILL LIVES!! BOOMER SOONER BABY!!!:clap

I remember as I was one of the ones that knew he was going overseas but no one knew who he was going to recruit as it was a big mystery among the team and kept close to the vest of only a few on the coaching staff. That same weekend was when Blair visited and very few knew of that. Of course if you listen to Hale he was the only one who knew of Blair and Newell....which we all know simply wasn't true. Also you had never heard doom and gloom come out of my mouth, there really wasn't that much on this board. While I do agree there were some on here that went over the top most here were just concerned constructively.

So now that you are getting called out is when it starts not to matter? classic.

Water under the bridge wayne and payne. You can call me out all that you like. The proof is in the pudding. Go back about 2-3 weeks ago. I continued to tell people that the program would be just fine. This board was going down. People were talking about the demise of the program. Now today it seems to be a little different. Really doesn't matter what you think wayne's world. I know what I know. BOOMER SOONER BABY!!!
