Capel H8ter's not going to like this!

The best way out of this is with Jeff as coach, hopefully he expects to stay here a few more years. He has developed relationships with kids for 2011,12 and on. That said, there is little margin for error aside from the low expectations for next season. Next fall's recruiting class is critical beyond description. Let's not forget the dark shadow in the corner called the ncaa.

Not a hater but a season ticket holder since 1981...Capel better be on the hot seat. He made this mess. No excuses. The handling of the team this season was a total embarrassment. I am behind Capel, think and hope he can right the ship but if he is not on the hot seat then our program has sunk even lower than I thought.

So season ticket holder since 1981 that makes you special? How? I've been going to OU basketball since Alvin Adams time so you are better than me? Capel has a couple from me, that's me since the sixties.

So season ticket holder since 1981 that makes you special?

Believe me, that is very special. I only wish we had many more season ticket holders, even if they start in 2010.

I did not see anybody state that they were better than anyone else. I only saw an opinion stated. I presume that is allowed. It is nothing special, but I think it is allowed.

Ditto.

So why state "credentials" of being a season ticket holder since whenever? Season ticket holders since 2010 have just as much at stake as I have, or someone who dates back to 1981. Seniority shouldn't carry bonafides from fans. A fan is a fan.

I'm all for keeping Capel...if I feel he's leading the program the way he needs to. I hate to say it, I really do, but I think we need to get rid of Gallon either way at this point. It's not just his attitude, it's the trouble he got us into and the obvious fact that he really doesn't care about OU despite the trouble he's caused the University. He can't even pretend to feel bad about that.

I hope we can dig up a PG and a halfway decent C/PF. Who ever thought it would come to this.

Given what has transpired since the end of the season, the long SILENCE from OU and Coach Capel has been very frustrating for me, and for other long-time OU basketball fans. The public conversations by Coach Capel today were good medicine for the fans, IMO. It was certainly good medicine for me.

I think we are all OU Supporters. I also think that Coach Capel deserves our support, but he could have reduced much of our angst if he would have had these public conversations with the fans a bit sooner. I'm not sure that the OU athletic administration gave us fans a second thought prior to today.

Nevertheless, it is always ... better late than never.

Once again, I look forward to the start of another OU basketball season this coming November. I very much hope that the bottom of the valley is past, and it will be uphill from here. Coach Capel said he wants players that are good kids that want to compete. He said that he has learned that it is better to have players that feel they have something to prove. That is music to my ears.

I cannot wait for the next game at the LNC!
I cannot wait for the 9-game losing streak to end.
I cannot wait to see a lot of hustle and determination in Crimson and Cream uniforms.

Did you ever think he watned to talk. I beleive he really wanted to get out there and reassure everyone but he and the staff were put under a gag order. This is NOT coming from any insider info just a hunch.

If Jeff has another losing season, how is still the coach? If the OU athletic department keeps him after another losing season, I need to find another college basketball team to support. Maybe I am too harsh on Capel but I am frustrated with the current state of the program and don't think letting Capel figure things in another year if OU is bad again. I think he has one year to turn things around, if he doesn't succeed he will be let go. How can people have faith in Jeff when looking at OU's current roster and there's no point guard or post players? Who is OU going to sign this late in the year that will actually be big 12 caliber players?

Yes a fan is a fan without seniority. What must be considered at times is whether a fan is really a fan because 1 fb season is over or 2 they attend more fb games than basketball games or 3 they could but don't attend or donate anything and expect OU to dominate because they are OU and they know how to post on message boards.

It is not likely that you will see significant improvement in the number of wins. Yes, we might pick up another win or two depending on the schedule but I am not really counting on it, unless Tiny comes back which seems unlikely. But, if we play hard for 40 minutes (especially getting after people on defense) and if Capel can sign some good players in the early signing period, that will be a strong indicator to me that better days are ahead and he should not be fired. However, failure to sign some really good players in the early signing period could indicate that gloomy days will continue.

I agree but really good means what? I would want to see all the holes filled and even include a juco kid like Goff. It doesn't mean to me that they be rated high. If we are waiting on a late kid it should get us a surplus at that position.

IMO, the fact that someone has maintained their OU basketball season tickets for xx number of years says something. At least, it says something to me. It says loyalty and strong interest in the program. It is not cheap to go to the games, in either time or money. Also, it says that this is not a bandwagon fan.

Certainly, a fan is a fan without seniority. Agree 100%. But, as another longtime season ticket holder, I find it interesting to find out about others out there like me!

I don't know why someone posts "credentials" or anything else. Heck, I have done the same thing. So shoot me.

Why post that "Tiny is gone" when you don't know?
Why post "Tiny will be back" when you don't know?

The answers could be: (1) frustration; (2) optimism; (3) delusion; (4) boredom; (5) the need to be able to say "I told you so" (6) the need to talk about OU basketball with like-minded people, when there is really nothing new to talk about ... after all, we have to type something in here.

I don't know why one would take offense to credentials. On this board most seem to be full time hoops fans unlike the last board when after any loss many vultures would gather to pick the bones of our last coach.

But do those credentials count for anything when a grey hair behind you who has had season tickets for fifty years asks you to sit down?

Most do seem to be full time hoops fans. That's credentials enough for me.

I don't worry too much about fans that aren't season ticket holders. There are many reasons why people don't attend games or aren't able to attend games and it doesn't mean they are not fans. I have had season tickets for several years and work my business schedule around so that I am in town and able to attend most games, but that's just me. Come on people, quit sniping at each other. I would also like to say that I think Jeff should get another year. If he is able to get the guys to work hard and not embarrass themselves and the program, stay with the program, show signs of improvement, and sign some really good pieces in the early signing periods, then he should get another year. If he fails to get any one of these things done, he needs to go. I really hope he gets it done.

don't worry about me anymore, I'm not renewing my tickets

No wonder I hadn't cared much for your posts. I usually tell the "grey hair behind me asking me to sit down" that I paid the same amount for my tickets as he/she did. If I want to stand and cheer on my team, then I will do it and you might as well get used to it.

If you don't want to stand then stay home and watch it on tv.
