Capel's future = recruiting success this spring

IF we get both, what are our expectations for next year?

I am a stat.'s guy and believe in historical data when making predictions. For example I fully expect Bob Stoops will win another big 12 championship, he does it most years, it doesn't matter who is taking the snaps. Just like I expect Mack Brown to run a close second or 3rd. Mack can only win the 12 with a superstar NFL QB and usually the QB's last year at UT.

History tells us without a once in a lifetime player like Blake G Capel will be if lucky 500 at OU next year.

Give me a break. He's a guard coach w/ no guard that could take over games. If Warren was on this team than Sampson could make this team a winner...but than again if Warren was on this team...Capel could make this team a winner as well.
With this seasons roster...I wouldn't expect any coach..and I mean any coach to do any better than Capel. Capel has them playing as hard as they possibly can.

I guess it doesn' t matter, this is Capel's roster and Capel's team. Doesn't matter how hard they are playing at the end of the day he should be fired for wins and loses. Worst 2 year stretch in 100 years. Every road game is a

If we lose out the rest of the year including the Big 12 Tournament. Capel's overall record will be 94-70. Take away the 30-6 season with Blake, Capel's other 4 seasons are 64-64. Let's face it without Blake our standard under Capel is under .500

But yet, when someone states that, they're castrated on this board. I'm so anxious for a new coach to be hired because the fanbase is split in two right now. Surprisingly, I think we'll have to endure another cold winter.

Why would you want to do that????

You may or may not be able to view my posts...Blake is a #1 draft pick/NBA allstar/once in a lifetime talent that doesn't come around every year. What did Capel do before him and what has he done after?

Blake is great, but he is no where near as great as he is right now in the NBA. You also need to remember that he wasn't 1 of the top 25 players in the country his freshman year. That 1 in a lifetime player wasn't even top 15 in his own class and he was borderline top 10 after his freshman year.

I've give Capel a lot of credit for the progress that Blake made from year 1 to year 2. I've seen players make great improvement in the 5 years hes been here.

And Blake was great his sophmore year...but no better than Hansbrough, Noah, and horford was before him. Remember, blake is 2 years removed from OU. He's gone thru 2 more offseason training.

I seem to remember when they were on the court at the same time Blake was much better than Hansbrough.

With Blake, very good. Without Blake, very bad. So easy a caveman could do it, I guess.

Seriously, if it all boils down to BG's presence, why the hell does everyone argue about everything else?

C'mon. Capel was successful more than just because of Blake, and he hasn't been the last two years more than just because Blake was gone.

Its not like he was able to keep Reynolds and/or James. So what he did before Blake was get Sampson's crappy leftovers to 500 record. He managed to do that w/ Nate Carter.

And you want to discredit what he did for 4 seasons? And the fact that 1 has a NC and the other doesn't.

Who would you rather have...and think about this...Hansbrough for 4 years or Blake for 2???

Question of the day and it's a hard one....

Plead the 5th?

Look at supporting casts of the two teams. It takes more than 1 guy to win a NC

WOW!!!! Deep thoughts here. A case could be made for either if you are just talking about having the one player and not considering what we know has happened since...

Ok I'll go on record despite the Blake avatar, I'd take Tyler for 4 years. That pains me to say because I hate all things Tar Heel.

This just isn't accurate. Blake was great from day 1. Go back and watch the A&M game or several others from his freshman season. Blake was doing exactly what he is doing in the NBA. He was physically dominating his opponents. Sure he has gotten better but the kid was great from the start.

He was also a top 10 after his freshman season. He was a lotter pick and he would have gone higher than the fools calling games project because the NBA drafts on potential. The don't care what Hansborough has done in college because they know that is all he will ever do.

He was an All-Conference type player his freshman year, he was the National POY his sophomore year. I'd say he was light years better his second year here.

But yet, and I realize this is a bit off-topic, we had "OU fans" claiming he was "just a great athlete".

And to continue on this...both of you guys make good points, but I think it's fair to say he improved dramatically. He went from a top 10 guy to, without ANY doubt, the consensus POY and number one overall pick in the draft.

I'll also add that I'm not sure even the scouts appreciated his game like we did. I've heard a couple quoted THIS YEAR as saying they didn't expect him to dominate many games this year (before the season started). I TRULY expected him to dominate and said as much.

I would say he was one year older not light years better. The guy was great from day one. He averaged 14 ppg and 9 boards as a true freshman. He was incredible his freshman year.

Just b/c he would have been drafted in the lottery doesn't mean he was a top 10 freshmen. They take potential over performance. But after looking at that class..he would have been ranked #8 in that class.

He wasn't great from the start...If you don't make the all american list..your not great.
