Honestly come on. Im as big a Capel guy as anyone (ok cept you Faithful) but with the crap that went down this past year you shut your mouth, say things spiraled out of control and that we re back on the right track now. Blaming the media or message boards is a cop out and is getting old at this point. Really old.

We should be really careful what we say on these message boards. The positive comments and praise also probably led to the burger boys 'bigheaditis' and 'whatsinitforme psychosis'.

I know when I applied for college, I researched the schools extensively on message boards. That's where you get the real "official" stuff. No sense in relying on accreditations, rankings, and what not...

Beal's not the athlete McElmore is. It's easier for an Athlete to become a great shooter than it is for a shooter to become a great athlete.

I realize that but McElmore may be the best athlete in the class. Saying he's a better athlete than Beal is different than saying Beal isn't a great athlete.
Beal is a heckuva player and very polished. I sure wish he'd bolt Florida and come to KU if McElmore commits.

OU didn't lose any recruit because of any message board. That's BS. The media printed ALL OVER THE NATION about the Tiny Gallon issue and possible probation, and Capel's problems with Willie Warren was not written by OU fans.

It was printed on NATIONAL MEDIA venues because it was newsworthy.

I read it everywhere. I heard it on the radio everywhere. I saw it on ESPN.

Coaches will take that press and share it with recruits, no doubt. So, OU needs to STOP DOING IT!

The fans are not doing it. To blame the fans is DUMBER THAN DUMB!

Absolutely agree. Jeff Capel is the coach and he needs to take responsibility which he still does not completely. When someone blames the fans for losing a recruit you have an immature coach who is way over his head and last year is a great example of that. It is just a matter of time before this program explodes and a change has to be made.

No one knows exactly how we are going to be treated by the NCAA, and there was a lot of talk about death penalties and coaching replacement. That affected recruiting and coaching hires, in many people's opinion.

Just because some are disgusted with the past season, the lack of control of the key recruiting assistant within the program, and now this "excuse" doesn't necessarily mean anyone wants him gone.

Exactly. Who wants him gone?
I really like Coach Capel. I hope he stays a long time.
But he blew it last year. To try and justify he didn't is silly.
We all make mistakes. Own up to them and move on down the road.

Capel needs to stay tight lipped and right the ship, or someone will do it for him.

Focusing on the fans for his fallout isn't going to fix his issues.

If the fans were indifferent or not concerned about the events, then he should worried as OU basketball would have been in "who cares" mode.

As long as the fans care, you have a chance to fill the stands once he gets it turned around.
