Charles Barkley is great at providing insight in his regular gig as an NBA analyst on TNT, but he leaves something to be desired at times when he shifts over to the NCAA tournament for a few weeks in the spring.

His take on the first half between Kansas and Wichita State on Sunday was one such case.

Barkley said Cliff Alexander was 'playing pretty good' and that Frank Mason had to stay out of foul trouble.

The problem with that is Alexander has been out of the Kansas lineup for several weeks because of questions about his eligibility that haven't been addressed by the NCAA. Alexander hasn't played since Feb. 23 at Kansas State.

Every announcer/personality in a sporting contest will make a mistake. When I've watched him during March Madness since he's been a part, I've almost always enjoyed his commentary and the entertainment value he brings. So, I can't complain about something he said wrong about KU. Who really cares anyway? it is KU after all...

Who is this KU you speak of?

I can't find any mention of them in the list of teams still in the tournament. :ez-laugh:

He doesn't watch college basketball and when you listen to him talk about teams it's pretty obvious. He's brought in with Kenny Smith simply for entertainment value.

This. He's funny at times but nearly worthless as a college basketball analyst.

Yeah. He doesn't watch CBB during the season, so there's not much he can add.
