CJ Noland CB’d to OU

More than you.

Oh, good. We've got one of these arguments going on about a new top 100 recruit. I swear our fan base is so spoiled and out of touch. WT, hanging out in Waxahachie most weeknights in the winter or what?

Lol no kidding. Again, I’d bet he had two takes ready: if CJ committed to Houston or another good program, it would have been a critical post lamenting our inability to sign a tough, competitive kid who is shooting up the ratings. But because he chose us, the focus is entirely different. I’m sure if Collins commits, there will be concern that he is too slender and his body won’t hold up to the rigors of the college game. 😊

Why wouldn’t you redshirt your 11-13 guys? Unless it was a CJ Cole type.

Ties up a scholarship for an extra year and in these times when probably more players transfer and leave more than ever you have to wonder about not being able to take chances on 10 other guys you could have had for those years or year, instead.

I see potential positives too. I just think to some level either the guy will be a player or not kinda.

Obviously i wish Longar would have RSed. Possibly tyler neal too for a more recent example

I get where you guys are coming from.. but why can't you let the dude have an opinion?

Im personally pumped for the guy and i think most here are.

But why cant WT express his opinion and if you disagree, counter with your opinions or videos. Its a message board... Or even better yet, just leave him be

getting more 4 and 5 stars is never a bad thing. If we want to constantly compete for Big 12 titles and deep tournament runs, we need to up the Blue Chip ratio in the program

WT doesnt have much to say about anything positive OU. Youd think hed find a board and team he actually cheers for. after many years.. it gets tiresome...

It doesn't really tie it up. By the time they are a RSoph or RJr the staff & player know if they will get to play, if not they'll transfer before their eligibility would be up anyway.

I’ve never said he can’t express his opinion or tried to stop him from doing so. But just like he is entitled to his opinion, I (and others) are entitled to point out why we think he’s wrong. And I did counter with reasons why I think it is a good signing. To recap, CJ is highly rated, said to be extremely tough and competitive, and had plenty of high major offers. If that isn’t enough to get someone excited about a recruit, it’s hard to know what is.

We've read about great attributes from a bunch of recruits in the Kruger era, but the individual results combined with the team results (lately) don't inspire confidence/excitement for some of us when it comes to recruiting or development of players.

That being said, I like Bijan a lot and obviously Collins would be a great prospect.
Players like Noland have a history of underperformance under Kruger.

Can you explain what you mean by "players like Noland"? Who are you likening him to in making that statement? He's a top 100 player (or close to it, depending upon the source).

Well that is a very good point in that scenario. Makes it a use it or lose it/why not scenario. In which case I would be all for it

Very fair. And fully agree

If the stats I saw were accurate, CJ averaged 20 points and 7 rebounds last season. He's a four-star, top 100-ish player who had offers from a number quality programs and whose stock was rising, not falling, when we secured his verbal. Honestly, what's not to like?

Those are his stats on a really good 6A Texas team. Absolutely nothing to complain about. And cherry on top he’s friends with Collins.

I echo your sentiments, Sky! What’s not to like about this kid? Even if he was not a baller with tons of potential, he’s one more link to our top recruit in this class. I want Damion Collins so bad it hurts!

Welcome to the OU family, CJ!

Well don't you look dumb. Actually, yes. I spend about a month a year on site at a client in the DeSoto area. Guess what time of the year? Yep, during HS basketball season.

You all can jump all over me if you want, but the kids offer sheet is garbage. Yeah, yeah, rising prospect, the other offers were coming, blah, blah, blah. This isn't the type of recruit that ends our FOUR YEAR stretch of .500 or worse ball in Big 12 play. He's a kid that won't do much for 2 years, and he'll be a role player as an upperclassman, MOST LIKELY. Maybe we get lucky. And I'm not knocking role players. We need them. But we also have a lot of them already. This is the kind of recruit you end up with when you whiff on your top targets. But sure, I'm glad we managed to pull ahead of KSU to land this kid.

Dude, stfu. Seriously. I can promise you I've been a bigger OU fan longer than you have. Aren't you an OSU grad? lol

Nobody gets to question my OU basketball fandom, especially you.
