I had really hoped we would nab both Stevie and Jordan. I'm glad we got Woodard I did notice that clark was given 4 stars Woodard only 3. How much better if any is clark?

Stevie is a better scorer and shooter hands-down. Woodard is better with the ball in his hands.

Woodard is better with the ball in his hands.

And probably on defense.

I understand why Clark is rated higher, but I'm not sure Woodard isn't the better fit. And yes, I realize I'm saying that after the fact. If LK can go get another guard to two that can score it, we'll be just fine.

I'll be the first to admit that I really wanted Stevie Clark. He's a scorer deluxe who is a threat to score as soon as he crosses the midcourt line.

I agree with WT, though, in that Jordan may be the best fit for OU. He's a point guard in the truest sense, meaning he runs the offense to set up his teammates first and foremost, and only looks to score when the team needs him to put points on the board.

That's not to suggest that Clark won't be a good PG at the next level. He has the tools. The question is will he be effective when called on to share the ball more than he does now? My money is on Woodard to become the best point guard at the college level. It will be an interesting next four years, that's for sure

My worry is that we may need our pg to look to look to score more than your prototypical point.

He's a pretty decent distributor of the ball as he averages 13 assists per game as well as 34 points a game

True. But he'll face better defenses in college that will put more of a premium on distributing the ball and getting his teammates involved. That's true of all point guards, of course. My only question is if Stevie will be content with shooting less, while he sets up his teammates for scores? If he's as unselfish as Keiton Page was last year, he'll be fine. If not, Travis will have some work to do.

Judging by the videos I've watched and the reports I've read, Jordan can score when need be. If Hornbeak moves to the two as some of us believe he will, he'll be a better shooter when he can focus on scoring instead of running the offense. I'm also convinced that Hield and Cousins will improve their performance on the perimeter in the off season. They're both hard workers who want to be good, so I have to believe that they will put in the time necessary to increase their shooting percentage from the outside.

Still, I would feel a lot better if we can sign a scoring wing or two guard in April, and better still if Julius Randle picks OU.

I've really been getting excited about cousins over the last few weeks. Everything I've read on randle says Kentucky or UNC. I wish we had been more involved with Frazier early.

I agree, Randle is a longshot. Can't blame me for dreaming. ;)

By the way, Price, welcome to OUHoops! We love members who start new threads with their first post.

We can sugarcoat "fit" etc all we want, but Clark is easily the better player. Woodard will be a solid 4 year guy while Clark will most likely be a 1st/2nd team all conference player by his Jr. year.

Before you jump all over me, find one credible source that says otherwise.

I think the major difference is Clark needs a higher usage rate than Woodard does to make a difference. Not dogging Clark at all becuase Steve Nash had an incredibly high usage rate and was/is great. Think it all works out in the long run.
