Is this the worst class of instate talent in the last 10 years? Not a single player in the top 100

Omega Harris at Putnam City West is really good and has kind of an if you come here OU offer with interest from Miami and Georgia . Carson Meier 6'7 forward out of Tulsa Union has a chance to be really good and of course 6'10 Jacob Hammonds the OU signee has a lot of potential.

The problem for the State of Oklahoma is that there is not a stable AAU scene is unstable and uneducated about how to put their kids in a situation to be seen. What Sam is doing with the OKHoops website has help get some of the Oklahoma players exposure, but it has just been regional for the most pat.

I can tell you for a fact though that some of the kids who are ranked in these rankings aren't as good a few kids I have saw in Oklahoma. From doing scouting in Oklahoma there is a lot of politicking that goes on from local coaches who want to see there kids get ranked high. I imagine it happens on the National level on a major scale.

Omega Harris of PCW is a very talented PG notice I said PG while so many people r say he is not on rivals this is true however he is on ESPN #35 as SG also Scouts know as Fox sports #22 also SG. Omega has an offer from OU, FRESNO ST, being heavily recruited by OSUr Miami, Minnesota, Kansas, Georgia, Iowa, Tulsa, so I would say there is some pretty good talent in 2014. There are plenty of talented kids in this class so before you say its the worst know what you are talking about please and thank. Have a good one folks :ez-roll:

I'm not sure about the instate talent level for 2014, but I think this thread contains less spelling and grammar than any thread in the last 10 years.

Did I say it's the worst? No, I asked a question. Have fun at school tomorrow. Don't put pea gravel up your nose at recess

This is a great sentence:

"Omega Harris at Putnam City West is really good and has kind of an if you come here OU of with interest"

Not in school tomorrow but at work, you have a way about you referring to someone as a child that is an adult. I won't go back and forth throwing insults. So again I say have a good one! :ez-laugh:

Ignore the OSU fans, Mrs Harris. You see, they don't have a basketball board/site so they congregate here.

Thanks,

BT

Something tells me Will wasn't *entirely* coherent here.

Sleepy? Drunk? Sleepy drunk?

Good points, but perhaps could have used a fresh minded proof reader :)

This class may not have a Blake Griffin or Sheldon Williams, however I think it is a class that could be a surprise down the road.

What I mean by that is you have some kids who are no where near their potential for a variety of reasons.

Hammond hasn't been playing very long and has grown a lot and his skills are improving rapidly.

Meier plays football also and is still growing. He is receiving interest from about 15 D1 schools right now. What hurt his stock this summer was the fact that he hurt his ankle right before the big exposure time in the summer. He wasn't able to play at two tournaments where several schools including Wisconsin and Marquette had contacted him to come see him play.

Mead is still growing but as a 3 sport kid, he hasn't refined his skills in any of the sports yet. Last year he was 6'6 and broke his finger. The growth plates on his xray were wide open in his hand, which leads doctors to think he is still going to grow. If he grows into a 6'9 wing, he could be special. Once again needs to develop better basketball skills. Right now football coaches are trying to convince him he is the next Calvin Johnson though. Will have to see what he chooses to do.

There are others in this group too. Union has another wing that is 6'3 now and appears to be growing. He was invited to some camps this summer and is a real late bloomer. Shawn Olden.

The state has some good talent, I think it is a late blooming talent group. I think Harris at PCW is a VERY good player, but he will be even better down the road.

I think the bigger question is do we have a chance to sign some good talent in the Class of 14. I could care less where they come from. I would gladly take Omega though to go with Hammond.

I would be fine with a Ryan Minor, Big Country, Randy Rutherford, Terry Evans, Kermit Holmes, Renzi Stone, etc. type player, especially Ryan Minor. I don't recall the rankings of all of those players but I do recall that Minor and Big Country were not highly ranked and both had excellent careers in the Big 8 coming out of small Oklahoma schools.

Oklahoma is a state that seems to run hot and cold with instate talent. While you may have to look hard beyond Harris and Hammond to find high-profile recruits in 2014, the 2013 class has a a covey of players who received national attention. It has been like that for as long as I can remember. If OU can land Omega Harris to go with Jacob Hammond, our instate recruiting will be a huge success.

By the way, you guys who worry about grammar and misspelled words, obviously don't remember JessieW, the Zona fan (or was it the Zags?) who used to frequent this board. He posted in riddles a code breaker couldn't decipher. :ez-laugh:

The only poster on this board that has ever rightfully been ripped for spelling or grammar on this board is Jessie. That cat was like Yoda but drunk. Anyway, back to the original post, if there are 100 players in the 2014 class better than Omega Harris in 2014, I'll eat my shoe, that kid is good.

I really hope OU lands him. Glad Kruger and company built a relationship with him early!

I really want that guy at OU, and you'd think that we'd have a better than average shot at him. Only thing I can see going against us is we will hopefully be pretty established at the PG position by then.

And JessieW created no fewer than 2 threads a day.
