Haha. Pollard was a 5 star, top 25 high school recruit.
Dotson and Meyer were 3 star recruits.

Still a juco transfer.

Hopefully Sampson can turn it around for Houston this year. They look like they have a nice team.

Kelvin was hired too late to recruit last season, and his 2 best players transferred (e.g. TaShawn Thomas). He did what he had to do to get competitive this pseudonym. They didn't have the luxury of waiting for freshmen to mature.

I think he's done a pretty good job so far.

In general I think it is difficult to build up a program with juco players, but Kelvin's done it consistently. There isn't as much talent in the juco ranks as there used to be, but that hasn't changed Kelvin's ability to scout players at those levels and get the ready for D-1 basketball. For most coaches, jucos are a back-up plan, but as good as Kelvin is with them it's a serious rebuilding strategy for that program.

Wow:

Pollard, who was recently charged for his alleged participation in a kidnapping plot involving his mother, averaged 17.9 minutes, 3.9 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. He was one of just four Crimson Tide players to participate in every game last season.

Prosecutors claim that his mother, Jessie Mae Brown Pollard, kidnapped a 6-year-old girl and at one point demanded a $50,000 ransom.

The allegations, made by the FBI, claim that Pollard "knew that his mother planned to kidnap her cousin's daughter from a Mississippi elementary school in April and say that he gave a ride to a woman who later dropped the child off in rural Mississippi."

The girl was found unharmed a day later.

Pollard was one of seven people listed in the grand-jury indictment in Mississippi U.S. District Court. He and five other alleged accomplices face a maximum penalty of five years in jail and a $250,000 fine.

Sampson thinks they are going to be a good team by the end of the year. They still lack a good post player but are much better in that area than last year. The transfers have been huge. Last year's team was not good at all, but this one could beat some people in the American.
