Coach Cline to Marshall?

Exactly! Does anyone need to ask why rumors have been flying around like crazy the past few weeks?

Geeeez! Someone please make it all go away.

I agree 100%.

It's like every time a leak is plugged the hole gets a little bigger. The guards signing (if they both sign) were the MAJOR damage control item ... but this just shows there are still significant repairs to be made...

AND...

I hope to God that someone has started to learn their darn lesson about how all of this has played out and how the "not knowing" has affected OU's rep negatively.

at some point I am going to hafta engage the "common denominator" logic and wonder if it was EVERYONE ELSE that was hosed up or just the one guy who's left

Did everyone take the hit except our head coach? Things are definitely interesting.

Why would he do this? Hasn't he been with Capel since VCU? Stating the obvious here as others have, he has to have been forced out right?

What the hell is up with this offseason? Just when you think everything is about to calm down.

He's from WV. Not that difficult to see why he would take the job.

He has been with Capel for a very long time and this is a big step down. Why did he wait until now to leave if he wanted to get back to that area so bad? If it was just Cline leaving, I would tend to agree with you. The problem is, it's something every week with our program. Good luck to him.

I didn't ask
They shouldn't have told me
At first I'd laugh, but now
It's sinking in fast
Whatever they've sold me
Well Capel I don't want to take advice from fools
I'll just figure everything is cool
Until I hear it from you
It gets hard
The memory's faded
Who gets what they say
It's likely they're just jealous and jaded
Well maybe I don't want to take advice from fools
I'll just figure everything is cool
Until I hear it from you
Until I hear it from you
I can't let it get me off
Or break up my train of thought
As far as I know, nothing's wrong
Until I hear it from you
Still thinking about not living without it
Outside looking in
Til we're talking about it, not stepping around it
Maybe I don't want to take advice from fools
I'll just figure everything is cool
Until I hear it from you...

Jeebus......next thing you know the ballboys and trainers are gonna go running to an NAIA school. This is the first time I have seen so many people leave a program in less than 2 months. Crazy.

I agree with that. For example, all of my family is from OK and I will move back there when I retire from the Army.

Also, if Capel is going to make changes at OU, now is as good a time as any for Cline to leave so the slate can be clean.

Maybe this is the first job opportunity since he's been out here? Also, pretty good time for him to leave. If I were him, I wouldn't leave while BG was on my team and probably would have stayed with the class we brought in last year. However, our roster doesn't look stellar this year, so it is a good time for him to bolt.

As far as it being a step down - if I were an assistant at UNC and were offered the same position at OU (big step down), I would take it in a heartbeat to be back home. I know that isn't everyone's philosophy, but that is the way some people think.

Edit: Ranger beat me to it, and in less words.

come on

pull THIS leg and I play Jingle Bells

It's just mere coincidence that this departure happens now?

I dont think so. Someone was either told we were clearing house or decided to get out while the gettin' was still good.

It's entirely possible and very likely that Capel is changing the dynamics of his staff with people who have different skill sets and personalities. That's not to say that Cline was necessarily forced out, but it just may be that he knew that Capel needs/wants different assistance and this job near home came open.

Cline was the lead recruiter on Cam and TJ. Also on Thompson and Washington. At least he didn't leave us high and dry.

Good luck to Coach Cline. :clap
