Our second dose of mauling this season coming up tomorrow. As I said last time, just play hard and smart and that will be enough, even if we lose by 20.

Just don’t choke and be an embarrassment.

Hey, Mr. Glass Half Empty: How about let's play hard and smart and WIN by 20?

Well, if I thought that was even remotely possible, I'd have said it.

The last game was about as close as I think this team can get to Baylor-- and we still lost by 20. Yet, our girls played with heart and abandoned for most of that game and had it within a couple of baskets for quite a long time.

We have all seen that this team is entirely capable of stinking the joint up. They've done that a lot this season. They haven't really played as good as they played for most of the first game with Baylor very often.

That's why we're at .500 basically, on the cusp of having our NCAA streak broken and literally are one of the worst teams in Sherri's illustrious history.

And, if we somehow pull out a victory, I will be very, very pleased and will say so here, as I have frequently done in the past.

What a good game by our Sooner women. The two shooting droughts in the 1st and 4th were stakes in us.

However I haven’t seen OU play this hard, focused and good in I can’t remember when.

Baylor got lucky.

We were tied. Then, we had an off-balance shot by Shaina, and Vivi tried dribbling once more. We missed six straight shots and lost a couple of boards to Baylor. After we were tied, I don't think we worked for a good shot the rest of the game. We had some turnovers, and we took some strange, unwarranted shots. Vivi can't hit from the corner.

We were brought back into it by the outside shooting of Maddie and Gabbi, as well as some well-timed drives. I don't think they got another shot until there were only about sixty seconds left, and we were down by eight. We just lost the flow that brought us back. Tried to do other things.

Otherwise, really good performance. If we were to play this well, we would have a seven-game winning streak when we played Baylor in the finals of the Big Twelve.

SC and Mississippi State have zero offense. No wonder UConn destroyed SC. Texas did what we did to WV, about the same way. But,, WV kept it within ten until about four minutes left.

If we’d play this well for half of the season we’d be heading to the tournament with a really good seeding.

This is one of the top 3 games we’ve played this season.

Is it possible that it took this long to blend the freshmen into the system, offensively and defensively?

That’s true. Just wish it could have happened earlier.

You know, it was Cox, the one that we couldn’t reel in who killed us. Without her or her having a bad night and we win by 5-10. That is how well we played

Ana was off shooting, that hurt. After her fantastic performance against WVA was hoping she'd follow that up.

I know it's hard to believe, but I think the team is actually getting better each game. I hope they can finish strong.

This is the first time I've thought that all season.

It does take time to get things together with so many new faces on the floor regularly.

However, I still think, as a team, the ladies have underperformed significantly, especially with a senior-laden team.

I am hopeful this was a turning point and we won't have any more jekyl-hyde performances.

I will add that I think this is the first stretch of games where Maddie has gotten near to what her potential was even remotely supposed to be. She is contributing regularly offensively, which has been her biggest failure over the last two seasons.

Now, Syb, is going to through a bunch of stats at me to show how "consistent" Maddie has been, but it's more than statistics. It's about leadership in the clutch and Maddie AND Gabbi have begun to show it more regularly than at any time this season or last.

Kim certainly did not outcoach Sherri
And level of effort was certainly there.
Mulkey won this game on signing day. You switch Lauren Cox to OU. OU might have swept Baylor.
Fortunately, OU has more help incoming than in decade. Baylor has a big class coming in too.
However, the upgrade (delta/change) in talent in Norman is much higher. Much higher
But the play of Pellington was encouraging.
And you'd like to see Manning and Ortiz get hot and end their careers on a hot run than
being the first OU team to miss the ncaas in over a decade.

Oliver, I think you are spot on.

Sherri says repeatedly that you really only go as far as your seniors will take you. That's been the problem with this team - the extreme inconsistencies of Ortiz, Manning, & Vivi (at times). All of them are capable but they rarely ever play well together.

I think the freshmen are getting a lot better, especially on the defensive end of the floor.

They are also showing a little bit more fight. I completely expected to get blown out by Baylor - and that didn't happen. I expected Connecticut to slaughter us, and that didn't happen.

I feel like we are competing better each game - even though we've lost some. The OSU loss was a really hard one to swallow. Felt like that should have been a win.
