good for school choice

public education is a failure and needs to be reworked

Public Education is not a failure... that is absurd. It needs improved and reformed, but it is absolutely not a failure. Problems with public education are largely a symptom of the overall disease in the country. The schools themselves are good, it's poverty, allocation of resources, etc that make pretty much ANY school bad. This isn't that complicated.

Why is Jenks a great school district and McLain district in Tulsa Public Schools not? Because 85% of the kids that go to Mclain live in poverty. The average black student in Tulsa public schools attends a school where over 81 percent of students are eligible for free and reduced school lunch.

High poverty schools have less involved parents, high absenteeism, unfocused kids, etc. Almost all roads lead back to poverty and hopelessness. The sooner all of you get that in your mind, the better we will be.

This is basic science.... Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. How can I possibly focus on school when I don't have food? Or safe shelter? Or transportation to school? Or an internet connection? Or my parents don't have good employment? Or my mom is working 3 jobs and can't help me? Or I live in a district that can't afford books and technology?

Repeat after me..... poverty makes the school system bad, the kid grows up without a good education, can't succeed, ends up poor, has a kid who now has the same experience, so on and so forth. It's called "generational poverty".

How about those who feel they are without utilize education as a way out of a bad situation and to be used as a path to success. Some things are internal such as drive and determination. Not everyone has it.

Sure... they make movies and write books about those people. Because its pretty rare. Nor should it be expected for millions of kids to overcome the odds like that.

Fix the problem, don't expect an 8 year old to beat a system that is stacked against her.

It’s hard to focus on history when you have to figure out where your next meal is gonna be, find something to do after school bc if you go home you’ll get beat, etc.

It needs to be properly funded. So let’s take more funding away?

When will you guys learn that throwing more money at a problem doesn't fix it?

And money will not be taken away from public schools because of this ruling.
It simply means that a state can't only provide credits/scholarships/etc to only public schools. They don't have to subsidize or fund private school operations.

Yes the ones who don’t make it out of an almost impossible situation just didn’t have drive & determination.

I know many who had no roadblocks in there way and they were/are extremely lazy & some are just terrible people. They are still fine financially to this day.

Kind of proving my point. Has public education helped this problem in any way?

I am sure Marxism is the answer. That’s always been successful in spreading the wealth and prosperity to its citizens. Everyone knows Marxism is the key to solving poverty and curing the education system in America.

Throwing money? They cut the budget every year, how about quit taking money from it.

They are using state $$$ for private schools, that’s more money being taken away from public education.

Really? can you describe this more for me? Exactly how is this happening?

And last I checked, students that go to private schools pay more taxes than those that don't in general and they aren't using the education system that is funded by this money.

This case was about the state of Montana denying private students the oppurtunity to get a scholarship I believe.

Please don’t hijack the discussion.

Is this the typical life for these children or more of an exception to the rule.

And as far as black children are concerned throwing money at the educational level is not going to cause daddy to come home. Pretty sure children, regardless of color, will have an elevated chance of criminal activity when they come from a so called "broken home." Responsibility from some usually leads to responsibility in others. A good example needs to be set for it is a foundation for positive behavior and positive behavior uplifts most of all those involved.

I’m talking more about the tax credits, that would come from state funding. Also state & federal scholarships being used would come from public funding. Not talking about scholarships that a company or family provide.

Which is exactly why BLM is so evil. They openly want to break up the nuclear family even more

So 3 questions:

Where does that state funding come from?

DO you have any sources that say the money being used for credits to a private school kid would mean less goes to the public funded kid?

If my kids go to a private school, and I am paying state taxes, why should my kid not be eligible for school credits provided by these state taxes?

This is a disgusting comment. I’m talking about public education in general, with an emphasis on low income areas. Never once did I mention black children.

Child abuse is common in all classes of wealth.
