The ironic thing is that you are making a point here (and a good one) that we can't let the few bad take away from the issue and reality of the majority.

The irony is that I could say the same thing about the police...why are we letting the few bad apples cause a massive movement and reform of the police?

I do not want to get into all the stats again but this issue of systematic racism is questionable at best

Quite a few bad apples.

wow...just wow

congratulations! this is your most well-reasoned argument yet.

how do you know it's "just a few bad apples" unless you've encountered the whole barrel? you dont. thus your opinion there is pretty much worthless when it comes to policy decisions.

Try this ... repeat after me ... "I dont know enough about this topic to make educated decisions." you can say it. you know it's true. let's try some truth for a change.

Here's a thought: "I don't have enough information to make an educated decision" is an answer you could also use.

I dont think you have enough experience and knowledge regarding this subject to interject such an opinion. I've read thousands of pol.ice reports and represented thousands of these cases ... including many instances of such overstepping. What about you?

How many clients have you had die in the county jail because they weren't given adequate medical attention following their arrest?

How many cases have you had to quickly file a case on for others just so the notice requirement will be met for the tort claims act?

How many clients have you had commit and attempt to commit suicide by cop?

How many clients have you sent to Vinita to keep them out of DOC because Northcare or some other facility told you they'd never make it in GP?

How many clients have you had beaten up by cops and other inmates in the county jail because they were having psychotic episodes?

It's NOT just a matter of training and education. Half the santa fe division doesn't belong in the uniform at all. A hammer (or a gun and fist) isn't the proper tool for every case.

All politics and personals aside ... if you genuinely believe this then you have a serious blind spot.

My God you sure do think highly of yourself.

What % of the police force in your community are bad apples. What aspect of the labor force are without bad apples. Surely there are bad doctors, lawyers, teachers as example.

Bad doctors, lawyers, teachers get filtered through (although not enough teachers). Police officers rarely get fired & they didn’t got to school for at least 4 years & yearly professional development. So by that alone I guarantee there are more bad apples in law enforcement.

Getting back to percentages.

So we cannot weigh in on this topic unless we have personally met with every officer in the US?

I'm out guys.

I think highly of myself because as a practicing criminal defense attorney I learned about criminal law?

What planet do you live on? It obviously isn't within this reality.

so, let's collect your answers so far:
1. "wow"
2. "I'm out"

you dont seem very self-assured of your knowledge. probably better that you do bow out. at least we won't be burdened with more tripe responses.

No one said society is devoid of bad apples. The thing is you really don't know how many regardless of what field is being examined.

When these cops kill innocent people they always have complaints of excessive use of force or other issues. The bad apples are usually easy to identify.

then just admit that the loyalty culture created within the police union is problematic and needs to be changed. you guys fight against unions otherwise ... why leave this one alone?

Lets defund teachers as a whole because of the ones that rape their students.

That makes zero sense.

Defunding makes zero sense for cops as well.

That doesn't mean improvements can't be made

I honestly think the bigger part of the problem is what they are being asked to police... They are basically being asked to police communities with extreme poverty. All roads lead back to inequality, poverty, etc. You guys know my societal stats, I don't need to go over them again, but it's a tough job to police failed economic policies. Not just a tough job, but an impossible job.

can't disagree with that

I’m not for defunding police, I’m for much more training. I actually want them well funded & paid so more applicants mean you weed out the bad ones easier. However, the cover ups & mistreating officers who report another officer is also a major issue that needs to be corrected that idk if more training & better pay will solve.
