7 year old at the DNC has his MAGA hat taken by two adult women. Sanity is a lovely thing to witness.

Biden said he would shut down the country if elected
Science. Imagine that!He said he would shut it down if the scientists recommended it. Which are the people we should’ve been taking the cue from in the first place.
The quote in question, from former Vice President Joe Biden.“I would shut it down; I would listen to the scientists,”
He said he would shut it down if the scientists recommended it. Which are the people we should’ve been taking the cue from in the first place.
Two things:
1. Those scientists still seem to know very little about this virus. Information that is reported as "fact" still changes every few weeks.
2. Any report from a scientist is ONLY going to take that, science, into account. Sorry but a decision to shut down again, at this point, has to include weighing any number of non-scientific data including the economy, the ability of people that aren't working to be able to provide for themselves, mental and physical health after another shut down, and any number of other factors. So no, scientists alone should not be deciding what happens.
There is no scientific basis for a complete shutdown. A shutdown has unintended consequences that are harmful as well. Social distancing, wearing a mask, washing your hands are all supported by scientific evidence. A shutdown is NOT supported by evidence. It is very political tho.
Scientists should be the main people we listen to. Once they give us the information and the decision makers listen, share the info, then discuss the proper actions. If the decision is to open everything up because it would be worse to keep people home & hurt the economy then I will respect that decision.
The problem is we have a governor who isn’t disclosing the information the the town/city decision makers who he passed the responsibility to. Also we have a president who called the virus a hoax and is contradicting what worldwide scientists have been saying.
I agree with this now. At the beginning while the information was being gathered I understood the shutdown.
I agree. In the beginning, there was way too much we didn’t know. A shutdown was worth a try for a short time. Now, we know a whole lot more and our treatments are much better. Shutting down now is not in anyone’s best interest. That doesn’t mean we have to be stupid. We should still take every precaution possible. Wear a mask, wash your hands, social distance.
He did not refer to the virus as a hoax. ( Hi, how are ya?) He referred to the way the democrats were politicizing the virus as an attack on him was a hoax.
Taken from the "Washington Post."
"It’s true that President Trump didn’t say that the spread of the coronavirus itself was a hoax. What he said instead at a late February campaign rally in South Carolina, though, revealed his approach to the emerging pandemic in another way.
“The Democrats are politicizing the coronavirus. You know that, right? Coronavirus. They're politicizing it,” Trump said on Feb. 28. “We did one of the great jobs, you say, 'How's President Trump doing?' 'Oh, nothing, nothing. They have no clue, they don't have any clue."
After an aside on the vote-counting problems in the Democratic primary in Iowa, he continued.
“One of my people came up to me and said, ‘Mr. President, they tried to beat you on Russia, Russia, Russia.’ That didn’t work out too well. They couldn’t do it,” he said. “They tried the impeachment hoax. That was on a perfect conversation. They tried anything, they tried it over and over … It’s all turning, they lost. It’s all turning, think of it, think of it. And this is their new hoax."
Agreed
Shutting down worked for lots of countries around the globe. We never truly "did" it, and we were way too hasty in our re-opening.
There's such a stigma around that type of action now that it will never again be attempted.
