Actually no that's exactly backwards. If the letter of the law is written in stone then what you end up with is a legal code that doesn't fit the times at all.

I mean, I'm no lawyer but that's my opinion. Others here are lawyers and I welcome their corrections if I'm wrong.

I don't think laws should be able to fluctuate in meaning based on current times. That is asking for issues. It is Congress' job to update laws as needed

If Lincoln Riley was worried about Gundy out-recruiting him, I bet he isn't now lol.

So by that logic, you're okay with someone not hiring a person because they are African-American? Wow, that's... wow.

yes. but i'm also ok with someone not hiring someone because they are white. or Christian or Muslim or Chinese. I think it works itself out. Places that are racist will die out because people will stop frequenting them. I do think that workers have the right to be treated as equals and fairly once hired but I think a business owner should have the right to have whomever he wants working for him.

That might make sense if America was a level playing field... but it's far from it.

But how would you know someone is gay at time of interview? I don't think you are allowed to ask that question. So the more likely scenario is, you hired someone who is gay but you didn't know it, you find out later, and you fire them because of it.

Lots of gay people are in the closet, and come out and are presumably employed most of the time.

Ok to fire them after the fact for being gay?

Right... he's speaking from a white, straight, christian, male perspective.. In other words, the least persecuted or oppressed group in this country. Nothing wrong with being a white male (I am one too), but we have never for one second had to question if who/what we are had anything to do with something bad that happened to us. It shapes a world-view that everything is fair and even.

Yep, exactly.

Wearing an OANN shirt when you coach 70% young black men might be the dumbest thing he could have done, short of sporting confederate flags. It's right-wing propaganda. It's like our version of RT.

Yep, so idiotic, the message wasn't lost on Chuba Hubbard.

If it violates the terms of working there, yes.
I go back to the CAtholic school scenario. While a gay person can work at a Catholic school and there is nothing wrong with that, if they are living a gay lifestyle though, it goes against the teaching of the Gospel and Catholic teaching

I disagree. I bet Hubbard had never even heard of OAN before somebody clue'd him in or he saw the pic and googled it. They are a conservative outlet, but they aren't an over the top, controversial one to my knowledge.

So what you are saying is that ANYTHING associated with conservatism is racist. THAT is what is causing further divide.

Dude, OAN traffics in insane right-wing and racist conspiracy theories. Young African-Americans know all about it.

Tucker Carlson had a great piece on CHAZ the other night. highly entertaining pointing out the irony of what CHAZ is doing

Good to know that being an expert on what young AA's know about can be added to your long list of areas of expertise.

Glad we have you on the board to learn us dummies all the stuff you already know.

I didn't say OANN was racist, I said they are a propaganda network.

The reference to Gundy and confederate flags was not really about OANN content being racist, but about OANN's reputation during these particular times as being critical of Black Lives Matter, the protests, right-wing conspiracy theories, etc. It's a sensitive and tense time out there right now, and I wouldn't be doing anything that associated myself as anti-BLM right now. It was a dumb move by Gundy.

Yep, it really can't be argued that it wasn't a dumb move.

With Gundy and the shirt. If he likes OAN that’s his business but if he expresses it it will definitely hurt his relationship with AA & recruiting. He was fishing and posed for a picture, so I highly doubt it was a stance, but it was terrible timing. Mix this with his COVID comments & he’s snowballing a bit.

You assumed Chuba never heard of OAN. I don’t see the difference.
