Iowa State’s Ashley Joens sank two free throws with 9.3 seconds to seal the Cyclones 63-59 win over Oklahoma at Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa on Saturday.
Joens, who dislocated her shoulder earlier in the game and had to have it popped back in, finished with 17 points, 15 rebounds and three assists. The Cyclones’ Kristin Scott led all players with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
Four Sooners scored in double figures. Ana Llanusa, making her first start in seven games, scored 15 points.
Taylor Robertson also had 15 while Gabby Gregory chipped in 12 and Madi Williams added 11.
OU (12-11, 5-6 Big 12) shot better from the Cyclones from the field but Iowa State (14-8, 6-5) capitalized at the free throw line, hitting 14 of 18 attempts.
“We fouled too much,” OU head coach Sherri Coale said. “It took our starters out of the game and they had to play conservatively when they did play.”
The Sooners host Oklahoma State on Tuesday night. Game time is 7 p.m.
