Current RPI ranking according to realtimeRPI.com

45. Oral Roberts
108. Oklahoma State
109. Oklahoma
110. Tulsa

Is there something in the water? I remember when the state was regularly represented by 3 teams in the NCAA tourney, how the times have changed.

I haven't done the research, but this has to be the worst year for college basketball in this state in many years.

I would argue that last year was worse; at least ORU should make the tourney this year. But really...the state of college basketball in Oklahoma is pathetic. No one besides hardcore fans gives a damn about any of the four programs right now. I'll be surprised if there's 5,000 fans in the LNC next week for Bedlam.

Haven't all four teams made the NCAA Tournament in the same year in the past?

It just sucks to see basketball at such a low in the State.

I would also note that this is a perfect example of the RPI not being very accurate. OU beat ORU 73-59 and Osby only played 21 minutes in that game (I think due to foul trouble).

How has an NBA team in OKC affected the support for the college programs in Oklahoma?

I think there's no question that it has had a negative impact, although others will argue me to death on that, stating that if OU and OSU would just get better, then the LNC and GIA would start selling out again. But I just look at the fact that each household in Oklahoma only has so many entertainment dollars, and the Thunder are undoubtedly snatching away some of them from OU and OSU.

I decided to delve into this a bit.

I went back to the 1983-1984 season.

Before I get started; what happened with ORU during Ken Trickey's second go round from 1987-1993? Getting information about the 1989-1990 thru 1992-1993 seasons was very difficult. In fact, I couldn't find any win/loss records at all for 1989-1990 & 1990-1991. Did they stop playing Men's basketball for a couple of seasons? If anyone has records for those season's I would appreciate it if you would post them.

Now for the good stuff.

Since 1983-1984 overall records for the programs are as follows:

Oklahoma
666-284 .701, 21 NCAA Tournaments, 8 sweet 16's, 5 elite 8's, 2 final 4's, 1 championship game & 4 NIT's
