Define the moment

I'm just saying....."I'm sure gonna miss Jo!!!"
At the end of every year, we feel the same way. We're sure going to miss Delores, Jane, Roberta, Carolyn, or whomever. We just don't have anyone on the roster who can do what Mary Smith did.

Curiously, at the beginning of the year, Mary Smith is no answer for the loss of Carol Black. Since we have no Carol Black, we just won't be as good. Yeah, Mary has been here, and when she was a freshman, we wanted her to replace Carol Black who just wasn't good enough. Yet, now, we know that she just is no Carol Black.

Remember all of the wailing that Jo should be starting instead of Abi? Then, despite the fact that Jo dominated Miami in the NCAAs, we simply "had no interior presence" after Abi left. Then, when Jo was injured and couldn't shoot straight, she was worthless. Now, she had a strong finish, and we just can't replace Jo.

Syb, surely you aren't suggesting that fans are fickle? ;)

surly not! :facepalm

Actually, it is more like we have a memory capacity of 32 KB - if it didn't happen today it isn't important after all

Wish they would replay these older games on TV during the off season....Enjoyed watching this game, even though we lost...If only they would have had Jo on this team.....we would have gotten a lot more rebounds... :):):):)

Well, since I've opened up a sh!tstorm on the men's board :(:(:( maybe I can have a cordial discussion over here instead.

Players that you can honestly say that you miss and are irreplaceable? During the last decade or so? Hmmm...

Danielle Robinson: She was always good for a fastbreak two, especially when the opponents forgot to get their defense assembled

Courtney Paris: She missed a lot of shots and really didn't have to do much to rebound, but she was a sure-fire double-double for most of her career and that really counts for something... especially when your rebounding lacks under last season's injury duress :(

Freshman year Whitney Hand: Pre-injury, she was that 3-point spark that made you wonder how great she would be by her senior year since she was only a freshman.

Stacey Dales sans Schumann: She's Canadian, but she's also arguably Sherri's best player ever. By taking us to the 2002 Final Four, expectations were irreversibly raised at OU.

I feel like I should have five, but I can't think of another that really sticks out at the moment.

Just my humble opinion, but I think Caton Hill should be on the list. Tough defender, excellent rebounder, and can step out and burn you from the 3. I can't think of another well rounded 4, except maybe Leah Rush.
