Denny Announces Moser Staying

This is their second worst team in the last 15 years, and they still won 21 games. We haven't won 21 games in a decade.

they won 2 more games than we did. 3 more conference games. finished only 2 spots ahead of us.
for a reported $15.5million more
like i said....more money doesn't always = success.

Sure, over the past decade, their spending has only led to a better result 8 or 9 times out of 10. That's a pretty good success rate.

Here is a question with a meaningless prediction for March of 27. Sooner's win 21 games with pathetic home attendance and get a 7 seed, then beat the 10. Are we in purgatory?

Purgatory is where people go to ski because we missed the tournament again. What you predict is exactly what everyone wants to happen. It’s going to take winning and the consistent hope of winning to get butts back in seats.

Pretty down on this news; seems like the path of least resistance. Which to me doesn’t inspire much confidence in Denny. But time will tell for sure.

OU is clearly under-resourced compared to the rest of the SEC in terms of basketball but 100% agree that the program’s ceiling is limited with PM in charge.

I wonder if Roger has some commitments from BMDs to up the NIL.

If the general sentiment among the donors is that of this and other boards, the donors aren't going to want to throw money at Porter. On the other hand, no donor has stepped up to offer a large sum to help buy Porter out and to hire a new staff.

Roger is playing the long game here. Promise more resources, hope they come through, but give Porter enough rope to hang himself believing that the pool of potential replacements will be bigger next year with a lower buyout of Porter.

was talking to a former D1 national championship coach and he said most ADs don’t want to fire someone right off the bat, because then their true job evaluation will start after they make their first hire.

I think people need to get over the under-resourced thing.

OU football isn't poor, but we aren't top 4-5 in spending. Yet, we all expect them to be competing for SEC titles and Playoff births.

OU baseball, I saw a stat that we were towards the bottom on the SEC in terms of operating expenses (not sure exactly what all that entails). But Skip has a very good squad, is putting players in the Majors, and a few seasons ago had us in the NC series.

I can't imagine that OU women's hoops is better resourced than the men. Yet, they have a squad to be proud of.

Gymastics. I'd bet they don't spend as much as at least a few other SEC teams. Yet, they have won SEC and National Championships.

OU isn't the richest school in the SEC. We may not be top 5. We aren't going to outspend folks. Our other sports are able to put "acceptable" teams on the field/court/etc without having to outspend and out-resource everybody. Maybe, just maybe, the right coach could win the current resources. That clearly is not true of Moser, but that doesn't mean it's not true of anybody.

I really doubt he does. No big name donor is going to agree, during a couple of weeks, to make a significant pledge while the team is still struggling or getting a late season winning streak off the ground.

He keeps referencing Illinois, but what he doesn't understand is that Illinois is a basketball school and OU is a football school. At Illinois, he wasn't competing with football for donations and attention. Same with students. Same with "area vendors." I think Denny is about to find out why the resources allotted to OU basketball were what they were, and that most folks/companies aren't going to be quick to invest in what they likely view as a dying product (under Moser).

But we'll see.

I have sneaking suspension Providence or someone like that will come after him. That would be the best case scenario because we could get some buyout money to offset the buyout for the coach ou would have to hire.

This is funny because it’s obvious you’re trolling, trying to get a rise out of people because literally nobody, outside of the immediate Moser family, is excited about this. Tells you the state of affairs really.
Speak for yourself Like you told me.

Porter would be on the next plane to Providence if they called. According to the thread on Trilly's Discord, though, they're zeroing in on Bryan Hodgson of USF (someone we could have had last year). Maybe Butler if it opens? It's not Catholic, but it's in the Big East and is in the Midwest.

Porter has a great reputation among his peers and the media, but he's not great enough for another power school to come in and take him off our hands.

I think he's ours until this time next year. Let's see if Roger can get him some more $ for players and see how he does next year. I don't expect to be much better, but it is what it is.

In the meantime, though, he's lost the fan base.

Hodgson is going to Syracuse.

No it isn’t. In your opinion it is. I believe the opposite. And only more time will tell who is right.
