Devion Harmon out with COVID

I’m sure it’s true. I got the news from a source I trust around 11:00 this morning.

I saw Harmon post on Instagram a few days ago that he got a pre-tournament haircut (and wasn't wearing a mask) and instantly thought of Chiefs O-Linemen who were sidelined from the Super Bowl because they were exposed to Covid from their barbers and how Embiid and Simmons couldn't play in the All-Star game for the same reason, and I instantly feared this exact worst case scenario.

This is a devastating loss for a team who needs all hands on deck.

Devastating a kid that works so hard has to miss because he tested positive for something he probably had no clue he had.

I feel bad for him because he’s a good player and this is the second consecutive tournament he’s missing due to COVID, but I’m sure carelessness played a role in his acquisition of the virus.

Damn and we needed his quickness vs the taller tigers ...
I hope Harkless, Williams, and Gibson step up ...

Thanks doc. Because as we all have learned over the past year, only careless people get Covid. It’s not even remotely possible he got it by being exposed to Jalen Wilson during the KU game or some other way that doesn’t involve carelessness.

had to be from kansas. doubt he shows as positive right after a haircut. still pissed if it's true he didn't wear a mask when these other teams are having to quarantine.

I know you used the title “doc” sarcastically, but I actually am a doctor so I’m not totally unqualified to comment on this. I didn’t see the IG post described by the other poster, but going around in public without a mask isn’t super safe. You are right that he could have gotten it from the Kansas kid.

I'm confident this is fallout from the KU game. I just hope it doesn't extend past Harmon.

Gigantic loss..... That's 13ppg.

Gonna need Alondes to really step it up.

The carelessness was by KU’s sorry ass. We need to sue that pos organization to smithereens for their gross negligence.

It’s silly for us to try and trace the origin of his infection. He’s feeling fine with no symptoms and we know the tests are cranked up pretty good to detect even traces so it’s possible he got a “glancing blow” somewhere that triggered the positive. And that could come from anywhere. Considering they didn’t mention anyone else being out due to contact tracing, I assume rest of team will be able to go on Saturday. They at least have time to prepare for his absence. That said, he really can’t be replaced in any form. It’s a huge blow.

Guess we will have to wait until Sweet 16 to see him again

Each team in this tournament should be vaccinated by now.

I’m so sick of people blaming COVID on the patient. Soonerbms, your comment is asinine. There are so many people out there in grief and depression because they think they contributed to their loved ones death because people like you have called them careless for contracting a highly contagious viral illness.

Take a step off medical degree, please, and show some humanity. I’m a doctor too, so I can comment your on a colleague’s foolishness.

Saying carelessness contributes to something isn’t an indictment. I’m not upset with Devion. I don’t think he’s a bad person. As others have said, we don’t know the etiology of his individual infection, but can’t we all agree that not rocking s mask in a barbershop wasn’t responsible?

There sure are a lot of doctors on this board.

Full disclosure. I’m a surgeon. I’m not an infectious disease doctor or intensivist. I don’t claim to be Dr. Fauci. That said, I do operate on COVID positive patients from time to time and I find it frustrating when people don’t adhere to the guidance.

Just needless assumptions
