I don't hate it. I'm all for people having freedom of choice and movement. These players aren't property.

you have to draw the line somewhere.

If your argument is they aren't property so they should be able to transfer, then you have to allow them to transfer at any time with no restrictions.

But what if a guy wants to transfer mid season? In the real world you can do that. I can leave my job today and work for a competitor tomorrow if I wanted to. Could a guy play for OU Tuesday, KU Saturday, and then OSU in the B12 tournament? In all seriousness, if the argument is that players aren’t property and shouldn’t have their movements restricted, then why not allow that?

What about a player in his senior year and his team winds up stinking? Should he be able to transfer to a good team at the end of the year to help them for the stretch run? I’m asking seriously.

And if your answer to that is no, then I don’t fully understand your initial argument.

i honestly don't care if they could. this still take into account these schools have available scholarships and academic eligibility requirements. there is still a cap of 13.

ok, im fine with that

Ugh...we're now popping up on the ESPN headline tickers: "At least 5 OU players enter transfer portal or NBA Draft". I'm guessing this is not what Porter Moser had in mind when he signed that contract.

That's ridiculous... First of all, the college acceptance process doesn't work like that. You can't just show up and start classes whenever the hell you feel like it. It's actually a pretty lengthy process just to get into the school.

So this ridiculous notion that they would be playing for OU this week, and Colorado State the next is just a bunch of malarkey.

Now, if they transferred at mid-season, that would be doable from the perspective of transferring to the school. But that could be easily avoided by adjusting the scholarship to say if you don't complete the season you have to pay the scholarship money back or something. It wouldn't be a big deal.

This is a pretty good example of the Slippery Slope Fallacy.

"A slippery slope fallacy occurs when someone makes a claim about a series of events that would lead to one major event, usually a bad event. In this fallacy, a person makes a claim that one event leads to another event and so on until we come to some awful conclusion. Along the way, each step or event in the faulty logic becomes more and more improbable."

This happened in HS football here in PA in 2017. A NJ Catholic school football team finished 2-8. A 6'4", 260 defensive lineman transferred from that school to a Catholic school in Philthy (Philadelphia). He was deemed eligible and played during the Philthy school's playoff run because it was a private school transfer for "academic purposes."

PIAA changed the rule the following year.

It's a love/hate relationship

I’ll love it also if OU brings in the Groves brothers and Bishop from Creighton. It’s not so much fun when you just lose guys and aren’t bringing anybody better in.

How many of you would take a stand on moral grounds if Breece Hall from Iowa State decider to transfer to OU? Intraconference, transferring to a blue blood ... I’m guessing 95 percent of OU fans would be thrilled to see him lining up in our backfield on the first play of the season. If you hate transfers and think kids should sit out a year, that’s fine, but people should at least apply the same standards regardless of whether it is a transfer that helps or hurts OU, and regardless of whether you hate the other team involved, as appears to be the case with Harmon being linked to KU.

I wouldn't support Hall transferring to OU without sitting out a year.

LOL OU is having to re recruit against a bevy of heavyweights for a guy currently on their roster. Bizarro world.

They should just let him walk. I wouldn’t participate in any sort of re-recruitment here. Moser introducing himself and laying out his vision is perfectly fine, but no chance would I engage in some sort of campaign to convince him to stay. That’s ridiculous.

my son played D1 juco baseball. The first school, the asst coach that recruited him left over summer before school. My son still went.

The HC mentioned to other players that did pass the 12 hours in the fall that they needed to take a intersession class to remain eligible for the spring. My son was not advised. He failed one class. YES HIS FAULT.

His scholarship was revoked for the spring.

He then owed liked $150 for something. I mentioned the whole thing and they basically said since he did NOT complete the required 12 hours they could actually make him pay the $1200 in scholarship back if they wanted.

It's a contract...so, I definitely can see it going that route.

I kinda agree with this. Those guys don't seem to want to be here, so it's probably time to move on.....
