Is this the year he gets canned? Currently Tulsa has the worst record (5-6) of any team in CUSA and has lost to the likes of Arkansas Little Rock, Appalachian St and Princeton.

I think it might be.

When Wojick came to Tulsa, I thought it was a great hire and he would have them back in the Tournament.

But he couldn't get it done last year with an experienced, talented team led by Jerome Jordan and Ben Uzoh.

If he couldn't get it done with a team like that, I don't think he ever will.

Yep, he has to be done.

His team has good talent now and they still cant win... Justin Hurtt, Jordan Clarkson, and Scottie Haralson are very good guards.

Last year they had Hurtt, Uzoh, Jordan, and Idlet and still couldnt win.

Time for them to fire Wojcik and hire a Mike Anderson assistant and play Nolan style again.

Agreed... that would be a great fit.

There's no reason that Tulsa shouldn't be right there with Memphis every year at the top of C-USA.

They've got good tradition, a nice arena, and good city to recruit to... they should be better than they are.

It's ridiculous that freaking UTEP has been consistently outperforming Tulsa in C-USA.

This, as he had Jordan who was drafted and Uzoh who is getting NBA minutes and yet still couldn't get to the tourney. Also on that team and this year's team in Justin Hurtt, who NBAdraft.net had going in the second round. Watch the team and most of the time I have no idea what their offense really does. I'm in the group who thought the guy was a pretty good hire, but I think Tulsa can do better.

Funny thing is IIRC Tulsa had the opportunity to hire Mike Anderson when they hired DW and passed. Now, as I stated in another thread, I don't believe Anderson's style will win any NC's, but it's perfect for Tulsa.

It was actually back in 2002, when Buzz Peterson left, when TU had the chance to get Anderson... not when they hired Wojick.

Anderson was an assistant at Arkansas at the time, and he was interviewed for the TU job, but they hired John Phillips instead. (Whoops)

UAB hired Anderson the next year. (2003)

When TU hired DW before the 2005-06 season, Anderson was already pretty successful at UAB... he had already been to the tourament twice and had just come off that Sweet Sixteen run.

I doubt he would have gone to Tulsa then, as that would have pretty much been a lateral move at best.

He was a hot commodity at that point and probably knew he was one or two more good years away from a much better job... which he was.

Basically Tulsa got tired of coaches leaving them, so they decided hey we'll hire a local guy that has no desire to leave. Unfortunately they forgot what is most important...winning. When you're a school like Tulsa you are ALWAYS going to have to deal with coaching looking/leaving.

If Wojcik get's fired would Nolan Richardson be somebody they would hire? He's coaching the WNBA team there, I believe, and I would think he'd love to be back in the college game.

Just a thought.

Yep.

My thought on the "coaches leaving" thing was -- who cares?!

If coaches are always leaving for better jobs, that means you're winning -- right?

So just embrace your role as the best school for every up-and-coming coach... who knows... maybe you'll eventually land on your version of Mark Few, who decides he wants to stay.

TU screwed up big-time when they decided to go with "stability" and hired Phillips.

TU has had year much like OU football last year... they've had a ton of injuries and illnesses so far this season... right now they are playing to get a good seed in the conference tourney, cuz thats all they have left... i doubt its his last season..

My boss is a big TU donor and he seems to think that this is it for for Wocjik unless they have a miraculous turnaround. His ugly style of play and somewhat abrasive personality turned off some people from Day 1 of his tenure but this is the 3rd straight year of being 1 year away from getting over the hump. The sting of not getting there after 4 years of Uzoh and Jordan was somewhat lessened by Haralson, Clarkson & Magley coming in this year but it's been an unmitigated disaster thus far down at 11th & Harvard.
