When I was growing up (in the 918 of course) I used to love going to Tulsa games. Cheap tickets, small arena (so no horrible seat) and quality basketball.
Back then they were either in the NCAA tournament or NIT champions. I remember one year my birthday present (which happened in March) was tickets to the WAC conference tournament at the Reynolds center.
In the early 2000s, Tulsa was one the verge of becoming the Gonzaga of the midwest. Greg Harrington, Dante Swanson, Antonio Reed, Kevin Johnson & etc were all great WAC players.
Dre Wright has load of potential and if he commits himself he could do a long ways to bringing Tulsa back to those glory days of my youth. Also apparently Dre's father has a military history and with Wojick's Navy background, that was a big factor in their ability to secure his commitment.
When Tulsa is good it's a great place to play... I was there for a lot of the games during the Bill Self era and that gym was rockin' and it was very high quality basketball. Gym was sold out, deafening, and the city will get behind them when they are good.
Wojcik plays a brand of basketball that is not easy to watch. It's like Sampson style basketball only slower and more methodical. Back in the day they played like KU does now, and it was fantastic.
