Is anyone else sick of seeing us do this? It wears me out! We have the ability to get to the rim and score/draw a foul, but instead we pass the ball out to the perimeter for a less percentage 3 pointer. A lot of times the players are in the air before they pass the ball and end up turning it over.

We took more 3 point shots than 2 point shots last night. That shouldn't happen. :eddie187_jpg_xs:

I'll take open threes every time down he court, especially when it's guys 6-4" trying to finish against guys 7-1".

Ironically enough, the best finish at the rim of the game by OU was Woodard against Austin. When he did that, I couldn't help but wonder why others couldnt. Cam and Spangler looked scared everytime they had the ball in the paint.

Which is worse, drive and kick and miss the 3 or drive and have the shot blocked or drive, be fouled and not have the foul called? We are going to be at a disadvantage with teams like Baylor until we have more legitimate threats inside. We have done amazingly well considering the shortcomings this team has.

No. I'm not tired of doing this... We are 37.8% from three point... As MISooner already said: I'll take those odds versus a shot blocking machine. It's just who we are this year, and I love this team! The beautiful thing about it is we now have our stinker out of the way. We have a harder road then if we had done more damage in the Big 12 Tourney, but it's still a road I believe we can make a deep run on... I understand the sentiment, and maybe next year things will change. The one thing that will not change is Kruger's ability to know who we are and coach to that identity.

Multiple times Clark and Spangler had good looks at the rim and passed out (usually after someone dished to them). Don't care what % we shoot from outside, you have to attack the shot blocker, get into his body.

We didn't do that early, so Baylor was able to extend their defense. Sometimes getting blocked at the rim a couple times is better because it keeps the defense honest.

Yes, and those disadvantages manifest themselves on both ends of the court. To this point, the team has done about all they could with what they have.

If they win a game or two in the tournament, they will find themselves up against another opponent that will have them at a disadvantage.

I get a little frustrated with fans that set unrealistic expectation. Then, if the team doesn't meet those unrealistic expectations, it is the fault of the coach or the kids.

This is what I'm talking about. I saw several instances when players would drive to the basket with good available looks and still dish out. Of course they will get a few swatted, but a lot of the time you can draw contact and get to the line and get the other team in foul trouble.

Ditto!!! We played three teams in the conference with the size to make the interior tough in Kansas, Texas and Baylor. We went 4-3 which is about as good as we could have hoped for. I November everyone would have been elated to have gone 4-3.

I definitely don't have outrageous expectations for the team. They have exceeded my preseason expectations.

I would just like to see us work the ball inside some. This teams identity revolves around the 3 point shot. The drive and kick out helps free up some shooters, but when teams expect it, like Tech at home, they pick off the passes. A few more actual drives to the basket could go a long way in setting up other shots.

I don't necessarily disagree with the OP, but Baylor isn't exactly the team to work the ball inside against. Spangler and Clark, inside, against Baylor's bigs, is a TERRIBLE matchup for us. Terrible.

Expectations have already been exceeded by this team, anything else after what took place in the regular season is just icing on the cake. However, it's not unrealistic to hope a post or stretch 4 to attack the body of a shot blocker. That's just good basketball IQ.

It was even better than that because OU made the losses competitive for the most part. I don't know that I would call last night particularly competitive even though OU got it close.

Next year Spangler will be a better offensive player. Bennett will be a better player. Lattin, Buford and McNease will help. I am very happy with the direction of this team.

We shot 34% from beyond the arc yesterday. We would have to shoot >50% from inside the arc to match that. I'm fine with them taking a lot of three's as long as we can make 33% of them or better. Our problem yesterday was our lousy defense in the first half.

I was tracking the game online and couldn't see it but it looked like in print that Baylor outshot and outrebounded OU badly for most of the game and there were several times where it said so and so OU player missed a layup.
Seemed like No D early, bad shooting early and too much of a hill to climb at the end.

There is no evidence that would have made a difference in the outcome. It is just any easy point for the complainers to complain about.

Exactly! I have no problem with the drive and dish, particularly when Jordan is the one doing it. Spangler had a couple of shots blocked early in the game, and he played scared from that point on.

As you correctly stated, the best way to neutralize a shot blocker's effectiveness is to take it right at him and force the officials to make a call. Try to avoid him and you're playing right into the post defender's hands.

Ryan and Cam have to continue to be in an attack mode by using their quickness and athleticism to their advantage. Ryan, in particular, missed several opportunities to score inside or get fouled by passing the ball back out to the perimeter. I hope our coaches work on that in practice.

We drove the lane several times in the early going. We got hit a few times with no call from the refs and I think our guys realized that they weren't going to be able to finish or get to the line against Austin. I wish they hadn't quit doing it but I understand why they did.
