Ever since Hield went into the starting lineup and handled the ball at the 1, OU has been playing well. His assists has dramatically gone up, and his turnovers have even dropped even with him starting and bringing the ball up with Hornbeak. Grooms has also played well and like a veteran should at times. If the PG play continues to improve, especially since 2 of our starting guards are freshman, I dont see a reason OU cant compete for 2nd in the Big12.

Hield is playing the 2 or 3 spot. Hornbeak and Grooms have been sharing the PG minutes.

Buddy does not bring the ball up or get us into our sets. He is passing to open shooters from the wing and off of penetration from the wing. But yes, Buddy playing well takes pressure off the PG.

this .. Our team has turned it around the last few games with Hornbeak as the starting PG ...

buddy has played about 0 min at the a 1

Regardless, his assist to TO ratio is amazing since he moved into the starting lineup. The move has forced him to slow his game down some and let his offense come to him. He's not forcing anything. Very smooth.

Can you imagine how much better this OU team would be if Sam Grooms was actually a good shooter? I'm not implying that Hornbeak or Hield would not still start or play major minutes. But Sam's experience and leadership, along with his ability to handle most defenses and get the ball to the open man, make him a very valuable commodity. If you could add shooting to his repertoire, he would be one of the best PGs in the league.

It feels good to have more than one player on our roster who can run the offense. I remember when we were all scratching our collective heads wondering who would play the point if the obvious choice went down with an injury. In at least two of those years, we didn't even have a true PG on our roster. Now we have Hornbeak starting at the point, with a true point guard in Grooms and a former starter in Cousins, waiting their turn.
