What do you guys think Tyler Neal can contribute over the next two seasons?

Tyler averaged 2.5 boards a game and 4.0 points per game on 13 minutes this season. He shot 34% from 3 point range and 80% from the free throw line. He had a couple of nice games this year including an 18 point game against Sacremento State.

My hope is that Tyler can become either a 6th man or starter his senior year. He is a better athlete than people realize and has a nice shooting form. Of course this assumes that Kruger doesn't cut him on the advice of Al.

play the role that cade davis played. Good shooter, hustle player, gets easy putbacks from hustling

With Heild, Hornbeak, M'Baye, and whoever else comes in, if he can average 5-6ppg and 3rbs a game, that would be a great addition from the bench.

If he can become a knockdown 3 point shooter from the bench, that would terrific. It'd be nice having an offensive spark coming off the bench...Hope he puts in the kind of work that Bird put in between his sophomore and junior years.

Tyler looks like a 40% 3 pt. guy in practice. And he can probably be better than he has shown so far. But, still.

I believe he can be that 40% 3 point guy in games.

We all heard how great Pledger looked in practice his first couple of seasons, and yet that frustratingly never (or very rarely) translated to games. Then we hear about how much harder he worked to get in better shape and work on his jump shot over this past Summer, and all of a sudden he's averaging 16+ PPG and shooting 40% from 3 point land despite constant pressure and double teams. Hope Neal takes a page out of Pledger's book.

I don't watch practices but I agree. He can be a really good shooter. He is also pretty athletic. He has had some nice moves in the first two years but he appears to lack some confidence. I am hoping he finds that this off season.

Most of the players on this team, Tyler included, have the same glaring weakness: inconsistency. That's what I want Tyler and everyone else to improve on in the off season.

Luke Axtell...maybe he needs to start smoking and grow his hair out like Luke did.

Of the 9 rotation players from this season, I would expect more improvement from Neal than any of the 8 that are returning. Even Clark.

Blair just doesn't have it. Pledge and Fitz have hit a ceiling.
Grooms and Osby have some room to get better offensively.

I am less concerned with shooting the trey. Clark or Neal or freaking anybody just needs to be able to hit an open 12-15 footer.

Put on more muscle. Drive the lane, dunk the ball. He had a great Romero-type dunk in a competitive away game as a freshman. Haven't seen it since.

Improve the three-pointer to where he's clutch off the bench. Then learn to be a pest on defense. He has shown glimpses of being effective on defense, especially in the K-State and the OSU game.

What Neal needs is aggressiveness. When i watch him play he's just out there playing, he has no passion. Unless he finds that, he will be the player he is now for 4 years. If he does find it, and i think he will, he has the potential to be a really good player for OU.

Since rebounding and playing defense are not major strengths for Tyler, I think he should practice hard in the off season to be a more consistent shooter from the perimeter. That's what I would do if I was him. I believe that is his best chance of continuing to play quality minutes. Fail to improve and he could find his minutes reduced to single digits in our rotation.

M'Baye's minutes will come from somewhere, and since Tyler essentially played a wing in our offense, his playing time is bound to be cut, unless he can add value to the team by becoming an offensive spark plug off of the bench.

I would argue that M'Bay can get a lot of minutes from Osby, Fitzgerald and Clark. Additionally, he can have all 12 minutes (just under) that Washington played. M'Baye could play 20 minutes a game with little impact to Tyler Neal.

My hope is Neal still plays a significant role. I want him to earn the minutes but I think OU will be better the following year if Neal has more experience.

I agree his biggest improvement would come from a change in temperament.
