Why none of our basketball players develop a fade away jumper? That is what Buddy lack? They are all athletic enough to do that.

b/c it is usually a low percentage shot.

We don't take very many long twos. Not sure if that is by design or not but the stats say it is the worst shot you can take

And we (the women also) dont do pull up jumpers and we dont fake shots.

What the guards should practice is penetration into the lane: pull up or shoot a runner

Buddy made a fade away runner a couple of games ago. I wish all of the guards would develop that shot because it creates so many things:

Points in the paint
O Rebounds
Lobs
More open jumpers

Buddy added a step-back move to his arsenal that essentially accomplishes the same thing as a fade away shot. I actually like the step-back move better, because it's not as predictable and it's more difficult to block when executed properly.

Fade away jumpers are technically bad shots. It's like a QB picking up his back leg on a long pass. The ball floats, not archs.

I've seen a lot of quality coaching suggestions, but this one is tough to beat. Hope Lon recruits more players with fade-away jumpers, really what the program needs.
