Fears & the NBA Draft Projections

Btw -- Jalon Moore with a 39" max vert and one of the fastest 3/4 court sprint times ... but slow agility drills and mediocre shooting. He'll make the G League. Will be interesting to see if he can defend or handle well enough to make a roster.
Looks like g league pays better than it used to but I still think he does better overseas. I don't see the nba for Moore at all.

Who would you guys have picked between Doolittle or Moore for 1 season at ou? I'd pick doolittle (so long as hes going to study hall)

Doo by a huge margin. Moore is more athletic, Doo was a much better player.

Moore was much better player. Anyone who knows much about hoops can see that. Boomer

Their senior seasons: Doo 15.8 pts, 9 boards, 37.5 percent from 3, 22.6 PER.

Moore: 16.1, 6.8 boards, 38.8 from 3,18.6 PER.

Doo also with a massive advantage in both offense and defense win shares, and in assists.

Doolittle was the better overall player. He could handle, get his own shot, great rebounder, and defender the 3-5. He had some weaknesses but overall a more impactful player than Moore. Not as good an NBA prospect...

This is SUPER random, and I don’t want to start a new thread so I’ll throw it in here. This hair stylist did a video with Bijan Cortes, who says he’s going to LA to workout for the clippers. I guess he’s going to try to carve out a pro career. I’m not sure what league he’s good enough to play in, don’t think he could even make the euro league/ NBL, but maybe somewhere in China?

There has been lots of talk here about pro players people think Fears reminds them of. This is an article that makes comps for all the top draft prospects.

Wow, read that entire article and not sure I agree or see the high end or low end comparisons on any of the picks. It’s like the author tried to take the lost obscure name, on most of them, he could pick to compare with each pick.

I mean he compared Dylan Harper to Jaylen Brunson. Cooper Flagg to Andre Iguodala?? Murray-Boyles to Al Holford?? Cmon man.

I appreciate him not going full hyperbole and comparing any of the picks to GOATs, but outside of that, not sure about that article at all.

Best ball handler:

Top 100 ranking: No. 7

Fears obliterated expectations at Oklahoma thanks in large part to his exceptional handle and his ability to get all over the floor with a live dribble, keeping defenders off-balance. He applies relentless pressure on the paint without being the biggest or strongest guard, using his change of pace, jittery style and instincts to get downhill.

Fears is smooth and decisive with the ball in his hands and doesn't waste as many dribbles as expected for a guard his age -- he's more function than flash in how he creates space. It's extremely impressive stuff from an 18-year-old who reclassified to start college a year early. As the threat of his jump shot progresses and his decision-making improves, Fears should become an even more dangerous cover.

new ESPN mock has Fears at 7 to nola

I saw that one earlier. It was cool that they did the entire draft in that format.

Interesting, though, to see that Johni Broome is supposed to go so late in the draft. It's also interesting to wonder why Rutgers, with two of the top five projected players, had a losing season.

Broome not a good athlete at all .. ..

College success doesn't mean someone is sure to be a good NBA player. Hunter Dickinson is a world class jerk but there is no denying the fact that he had a fantastic college career -- but has no chance of being drafted. There are lots of examples, Hollis being one. The annual reminder -- the NBA is really, really good.

As for Rutgers, the rest of their roster was terrible. They struck lightning in a bottle by getting two stars, and I'd guess they spent almost all their NIL money on them.

I'd do a flier on him in the 2nd round assuming hes not a knucklehead like that baker-mraz dude. But I wouldn't doubt if Broome is in europe
