Fire Porter Moser

Shertz and Calhoun being mentioned with Kstate job on CBS.This is why we should fire Porter already. Can’t fall behind the likes of ksu. We need to get this search started.
guys like Schertz, Calhoun, Skinn, Steele are going to be candidates mentioned at every opening until they each get hired. We'll have a few more after March Madness runs, too.

If we make a move, they'll be good candidates out there. My guess is we'll still get started before a lot of other teams, and maybe in the process of filtering names now.

no one said any corners have been turned.
there are no good teams left on our schedule.

Yes, somebody suggested with Forsythe and Atak playing more and better, there was a corner turned. Talked about making the Dance and who knows from there. That is laughable.

You say that as if we only lose to good teams. How good is Arizona State? How good is Mississippi State? How good is South Carolina?

The point isn't are we good enough to beat most of the teams, the point is we are bad enough to lose to any of them as well.

I think we'll win a couple. That still means we suck.

it's even crazier how some people read a couple posts and totally miss the points.

there are no good teams left on our schedule. it wouldn't even take a phenomenal coaching job to win several if not all 6 games remaining.
we already beat a pretty good vanderbilt team on the road. shoulda beat mizzou on the road.
so it's not crazy to think we could beat a bunch of average teams down the stretch.
which teams on our schedule do you think are just unwinnable?
i'm sure you thought the vanderbilt game was unwinnable.
Vandy had their best player out. Do the rest of the teams too or is atak going 6/7 from 3 the rest of the season in each game?

duke miles was leading vandy in scoring for a good part of the season. maybe up until he got hurt.
so that could be part of the confusion. pretty sure i read someone's post before the vandy game that "their best player is out".

Vandy's best player and projected first round pick Tyler Tanner played in the game. He had 37/9/5. We beat them on their home court when a projected first round pick had one of his best games of the season.

HANG THE BANNER!! Might get to start the NCAA tourney in OKC, now that I think about it.

This is from Trilly's board.

I don't know who JesseR is. He may be a poster here. He seems to be connected. He is the most active OU poster on the coaching search thread on Trilly's board.

Not sure if this is true, and if Roger would pull the trigger before the end of the season.

I don't doubt that the buyout is ready. It's just a matter of when and how. Only an unlikely run to the tournament can save Porter.

I won't lose sleep if they fire Moser now. I just don't see the benefit unless someone higher up thinks one of his assistants would be a good replacement (hard to imagine), and wants to give him an audition. Tonight against the Vols was bad, but I did not see them QUIT until the game was out of reach. Moser is getting outcoached for sure. They start the second half down 9 and it quickly becomes 18. However, with 6 minutes left in the game, we were only down two possessions. That's because they fought back before falling apart down the stretch once again. It may be poor coaching, but if the effort is not there then there is no way they fight back from 18 down on the road to make it a two-possession game. I've never seen a quitting team do that. Now, to go from 6 down to 23? More times than not, a team expends a lot of energy to get back into a game only to run out of gas...seen that a thousand times.

i just don't see any down side to firing him now

i don't think they'll fire him until after the season.
i said the same weeks ago. the team is continuing to play hard. they're not quitting.
and that's quite interesting. do they respect moser that much? are they paid professionals now?
it's actually a little surprising.

Why do people find it surprising or praiseworthy that the players haven’t completely quit? Or think that’s a sign of respect for Moser? When you played sports growing up, did you need to like or respect your coach to try? I hope not. And for these guys, their future is at stake. If they tap out, they will hurt their stock in the portal. This isn’t rocket science. And on top of all that, I bet there isn’t a coach in the country who has watched OU tape this season and thought, man, those dudes really get after it.

I do. I think there is a line to draw when it comes to in-season firing. Plus, there is a new boss in town. Forget the occupation for a moment. Anytime one considers a job change, the person you will ultimately work for is part of the decision-making process. Most people would rather not work for someone who is easy to replace employees if something doesn't go right (since we all make mistakes). No one will blame OU for firing Moser at seasons end. But if your potential new boss is firing during the season when the team is still at least "trying" to win, is that someone they will want to work for? I realize several other factors are considered in changing jobs, but the person you are going to work for is pretty high on the priority list.
