Fire Porter Moser

I know exactly that instance and game you mentioned with Kai and Mo. I even commented on it to my buddy.

I have to think that chaos and frantic behavior impacts the team. It creates an edge (not in a good way) and a lack of 100% buy-in from the players because they're not sure. The byproduct is that they become anxious and unsure of themselves. IMO it's one reason they struggle at moments, especially at the end of game, timeouts, or when other teams make a run. Whenever pressure is put on, they're already sped up due to his energy and frantic mode, and they succumb to the moment.

And while I know LK probably wouldn't have been the coach for the NIL and portal era, as his recruiting style was already under pressure, I couldn't help sitting there Saturday on the difference in coaching style. Kruger, always calm and composed, unless he was delivering a message that needed to be delivered. ALWAYS had a great play out of a TO or when needed. And his substitution patterns were predictable. Knew who was coming out and when before the game, and almost always knew who was subbing in and for who.

Look, I know both styles work. Mark Few is more like LK, and Dan Hurley is more like Porter in his frantic energy. Even in the game Saturday night, Bucky was up and down all over the place, too. So I'm not saying a coach has to be laid back to win- Tom Izzo has a ton of wins and championships, and nobody complains about how he is on the sidelines. That energy and demeanor, which can be a positive attribute, can be contagious. And talking to Porter 1:1, it is, trust me.

But it can also be contagious in a very negative way when it crosses over from energy, enthusiasm, and fight to frantic anxiety and desperation.

And that is what we have in Porter Moser right now.
Like nwankwo went from the 6th man at times to the 9-10th now and doesn't even play. While it happens sometimes that a player plays his way to the bench or others step up and take their mins.. his situation feels like porter moron was clueless if he was any good and we last valuable mins to Forsythe, Jones, and atak

My fave move of last game was porter moron taking off his suit jacket in disgust bc of a soft turnover pass from wague on O and then wague hustled back and swatted the layup and dummy put back on his coat lol. I was like "oh, I guess wague saved his run...". And then porter moron pulled him anyway that same play lol

There is plenty to criticise PM about...but some of yall are something else lol
While I agree with you that some might nitpick or try to call out ANYTHING they don't like about Moser, substitution patterns are a part of coaching and how a HC handles game management. That is worth noting as being a problem with Moser.

Look, one can go back and look at my posting history and see that there are some on this board that called me a Moser defender and sunshine pumper over the last couple of years. In many respects, maybe I was, because I saw the core problems, the foundational problems within our program, admin, and BMDs that are too much for any coach to overcome and be the successful program we expect and have had in the past. And in many ways, I wanted him to succeed as my limited interactions with him have been positive, I love his enthusiasm in telling the story of OU basketball, and he is a good representative of the court for OU basketball and OU athletics.

But there comes a point that the product on the floor HAS to match, and a point where one can say, "this might be as good as it gets". And it's worth taking a chance for something different, even if those structural, deeper issues still remain that will still be a huge headwind for someone else.

This season, I reached that point. As much as I would like for him to be the guy to make it work, it's not happening. That's why I called out things like substitution patterns.

I hear you.

Its just some of it is too much.
Like changing who you want to sub in after a time out. That happens all the time. but because moser did it, it is latched onto as evidence of poor substitutions.
