Fire Porter Moser

a little surprising that there are still a few moser fans around.
but then john blake had fans to the very end.
What I hope doesn’t get lost on our fans is that this is arguably the weakest bubble in history. It’s so bad that a lot of college basketball writers and broadcasters are using it as proof that the idea of expanding the field is ridiculous. And even in that bad a year for the bubble, we are well outside the field. Yet we have some fans and media talking about how much credit he should get because the team hasn’t “quit.”

Not as bad as Blake, but this is the worst 5 year stretch of OU basketball failure in my lifetime. He's easily the worst basketball coach at OU since Bob stevens in 1967. He must be fired or we are admitting to the world that we don’t care about basketball and next season will be another lost season. The longer we wait, the longer the climb is back to where OU basketball belongs.
Not disputing what you’re saying, as we are a program that absolutely should be in the dance more than 1 in 4 or 5 years. But….

Hard to compare eras or coaches pre 2020. College sports changed so dramatically- especially hoops- with the portal, transfer rules, and NIL that support from admin, BMDs, and NIL support is as critical if not more than coaching.

Great support can overcome mediocre coaching and great coaching can’t overcome poor support.

Not saying he’s the latter but both are crucial and hard to compare him to eras or coaches we didn’t see actually coach.

I’m old enough to vaguely remember the last year or two of McLeod when I was like in 2nd grade and outside of Capel, Moser is easily the worst bench coach with his decisions I’ve seen. I had too many 1:1 interactions with Capel to give him any positive grades. At least Moser wants to be here and interact with fans and OU people. Capel did neither. Outside Blake’s 2 years, his era was a disaster even when the record didn’t show it.

Either case we HAVE to better than the last 5 years. No excuse

Those who called for his firing after the 9-game losing streak are being proven right. Mid-season firings aren't as widespread in hoops as in football, but this end-of-season streak just makes it harder to fire him in the end.

OU has to decide if it wants to be good in basketball. Otherwise, the bubble or a one and done in the tournament is the ceiling for the program.

I personally have found this 6-2 stretch to be fun, and there's nothing about it that's made him unfirable. It has been enough to maybe help him land another job and reduce our buyout burden.

Laying the groundwork….

I believe in the path! One more year of JN as our best player. And who knows, maybe we can sign another baseball player, a super skinny kid to redshirt, and a guy who isn’t ready to contribute for a couple minimum.

But yea, an assistant football coach tweeting clearly is a sign Loser is coming back. 🤣

Get some new material. The same comment over and over again

No worries, you provide plenty of material since you’re wrong about everything you post regarding this program under Moser. Maybe you should bring him on as an assistant next season. He will bring the wall with him, and your culture will instantly improve. Just make sure not to let him coach the final few minutes of games, or else you’ll have an even worse season.

Insufferable. You’ve almost single handedly killed this board.

I see this as Chavis letting Moser knows "they" know how this feels to be in this position. The football coaching staff was on the hot seat all of last summer and early fall until having the season they did. Maybe this ends with Moser getting fired but if he wins 2 or 3 more and sets the team up to make the NCAA, it would be hard for Denny not to have him come back next year unless Moser took another job on his own.

disagree barley making it to the dance after this season doesn't really change much ..

he has lost the fan base .. ticket sales and NIL dollars won't be coming for him ..

no real choice at all IMHO

and i will add this year was the chance for him to level up with the fan base and program ..

got more NIL (not enough) and did well in the portal ..

win 21 games go to the dance as a 678 seed ... and the fan base is bought in .. and the NIL dollars flow ..

he went the other way and almost had the longest losing streak of all time at OU . .

Ugh. Bob and Chavis with public comments like that? Feels like the OU Admin is trying to get fans on board for another season of the PoMo Show.

I think he'll be tough to fire if he makes the Dance. I certainly think we should move on, but I don't think they will. And he may be close enough now that it won't matter. Really hope I'm reading incorrectly into the comments from OU coaches.

While I agree that this team should have been set up for a sweet 16 run(still could happen, I suppose), I think it would be unreasonable to fire him after another tournament bid. I also think it would be looked at negatively by prospective coaches from the outside looking in.

This year definitely hasn't gone according to plan but IMO IF OU does somehow win 2-3 more in a row and make the NCAA tourney it would almost eradicate the losing streak in my mind with the way they bounced back and have been playing lately.

Will that happen? Who knows, and for a lot, they are done with Moser which I get. It's not just the 9-game losing streak but how they lost a lot of those games with having late leads in some of them and not winning any of them. Some like MU were bad decisions/bad luck and other were bad losses like South Carolina and Miss St.

Again though, with that in mind, winning 6 out of 8 including Mizzou in blowout fashion and at Texas and possibly 8 out of the last 10 (if they win the next two) would be fairly impressive and show that Moser didn't lose the team like he's done with a lot of the fanbase.

Not unreasonable at all to fire an underperforming coach with Moser’s body of work.
