ISU was not open all game. They didn't get many really good looks in the first half at all. And a team that dynamic, with that many scorers, is going to get open looks eventually. Watch an NBA game. Those guys are the best of the best right? They get open shots ALL THE TIME. It's tough to defend 5 guys that can score for an entire game, without giving up open looks eventually. Especially when you are playing against dynamic guards like ISU has. You crowd them, they blow by you. You give them a little space, they shoot jumpers. That is why they beat us.....they had a team full of scorers, and we have what, two or three? When the going got tough, they shut down our two best scoring options, and we couldn't score. That isn't an option against ISU b/c they have an entire roster that can score it.
And Pledger and Grooms aren't the only ones that got beat. I don't remember Pledger getting beat off the dribble, which is the correct way to defend most of the time. You can't give up layups and dunks, you have to make guys shoot it over you.
You are letting your predetermined opinion of Pledger cloud what you actually saw that game. Or what you didn't see, but are going to talk about like you did see it.
