I am trying to come up with 3 VALID reasons why Joe should retain Jeff for another season.

1. Jeff is a nice man?
2. The SS want Jeff back?
3. To save money?

4. He's undefeated in overtime.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Since the termination provisions of his contract are not known, who knows what the money impact would be.

Also, who knows how well liked Jeff is by the people that run the University.

All I know is Sooner Basketball is not fun anymore, and I have lost all belief that Jeff will excel as the OU basketball coach. Jeff’s conference record of 36-43 (.456) and the repeated late season losing streaks are performance measurements that should demand his termination.

What did we expect? When Jeff was hired five years ago, did anyone expect a record of 36-43 in the Big-12 Conference? Did anyone expect that numerous long losing streaks would become the norm for the OU basketball program?

Well, I did not expect this.

I believe the University of Oklahoma should be about excellence. I no longer believe that Jeff can sustain excellence in the OU basketball program.

4. He has a nice class of returning juniors with Pledger, Fitzgerald, Osby, Goff and Blair. As well as some solid returning sophomores in Neal, Clark and Newell.

5. He has a chance to sign Jurick and Guerrero.

I don't care either way but I would give him one more year. He will fail because he is a bad coach but I would still take a shot and hope for the best.

:clap

Excellent. Keep them coming.

That sounds logical to me.

Jack Spates the wrestling coach was a nice man also,Joe C.never canned him,but now Spates is retiring.I know wrestling is a non revenue sport, but just trying to get the point across about Joe C.Go Sooners!!!!!!

Reasons why Capel is safe and in order of importance.
1) money money money. Joe C. hates to part with it. He hired Jeff for 600k which was 11th in the Big 12 at the time. Right now Stoops got a big raise because ND offered 6 million just a little over 14 months ago. Stoops coordinators are not even in the top 15 salary wise when combined together. Subtract Bob and 1/2 of the Big 12 football staffs have a higher salary structure. There are no big boosters to even remotely care about OU Basketball enough to buy Capel out.
2) Capel and more importantly his wife are so gracious to the OU family (Boren, regents,Molli,Castigliones, etc) they desperately want to give him an opportunity to turn it around. Joe C. is very convinced Jeff will and is the guy to do it.
3) Did I say money?

With Capel, Basketball is a non revenue sport.
