? for you guys

willie warren 100% should have gone pro after his frosh year also

nash should have turned pro 2 or 3 years ago

Nash has NO CHANCE of making an NBA roster. He would get swallowed up down low and he can't shoot worth a $hit to play the wing!

right but after his frosh year he was a great athlete with wing potential ..

he was a first rounder ..

Interesting! What sources are they hearing that from? DraftExpress and Chad Ford, the two most accurate mock drafts, have him mid to late second round. NBA Draft.net has him late first, but they're not as accurate usually.

DraftExpress is awful at accuracy a few years back they thought Klay Thompson was not a lottery pic but a mid to late first. Klay was a dead eye shooter with suspect handles and his defense wasn't that great. They thought Alec Burke was a much better player.

As we can now see Klay has worked on his defense and handles. If Buddy finishes strong at the end of the year he should go. Isaiah once he shows consistency throughout and control his temper he will also go to the next level.

It would be good to see him play without Buddy and see how he can lead the team. I hate saying in some aspects because I like watching them play together.

Year-over-year Draft Express is better than NBADraft.net, it's not an exact science, so there will be misses. Jonathan Givony's international scouting trumps anything another service provides.

Geez guys I'm sorry but to say Spangler could EVER be anything more then a D-league player your smoking something good. There's NO chance he will EVER step foot on an NBA court for any NBA TEAM. The guy is 6'8" and if you take him to the doc he's probably under that. He has DECENT handles for a guy who is in college. And ZERO post moves. The guy gets by on effort in college. Easily one if my favorite sooners of all time. But he's averaging 11 pts and 8 Rebs in college when playing a but load of minutes as a JUNIOR. You don't look at him and see potential. You look at him and see that he's worked his tail off to max out what he has. Comparing him to Nick Collison is hilarious. Nick was as dominant a player in the big 12 as there could be at the time. And is 6'10"(officially measured) and 255. Nick in college had amazing post moves and rebounded like a freak. And the only year he played over 30 min was his senior year. I love Spangler as much as the next guy. But he is Kevin Bookout. A great 4 year player but WILL NOT make an NBA roster...EVEEEER. OU has had tons of spanglers roll through in it's time. I love you guys but take off the crimson colored glasses haha we will NEVER see Spangler on TV after college.

Nick Collisons stats at KU
Year. G. Min. PPG FG% 3pt% FT% APG. RPG BPG. SPG
2003 38 32.4 18.5 55.4 34.2 63.5 2.2 10.0 1.9 1.2
2002 37 26.8 15.6 59.2 37.5 57.5 1.7 8.3 2.2 1.1
2001 33 27.0 14.0 59.7 40.0 62.5 2.2 6.7 1.6 1.1

nbadraft.net is/was a fan site .... it has a great url so it has gained unwarrented creditability ..

draftexpress actually employees former nba scouts

you lose some credability with some of this ...

spangler is every bit the freak rebounder that colison was their per 40 min college rebound rates are almost identical ..

is collison much bigger yes .. and that is likely the reason that spangler will not play in the nba ... but he is a signifigintly more effeicent Offinsive college player than collison .. and if his usage was higher could easily score 5 more ppg ..

and this is not close to the truth .... for one bookout was far from a "great" 4 year player .. he was a below average rebounder and an extremely limited player on O .. and was a worthless defensive player outside of the paint

I tried to say Spangler wasn't Nick Collison in a nice way…….. He is a couple of inches shorter. In fairness, it doesn't matter how much Nick scored in college, that's not his role in the NBA. He plays defense, sets screens, rebounds with good position, and passes.

Collison's rebounding in college was no better than Spangler's is now. I don't get where you say he rebounded like a freak. As a soph, Nick averaged 6.7 boards (7th best in the conference) and Ryan averaged 9.4…. and led the conference. Nick averaged 8.3 as a junior (5th in conference) and Ryan is currently averaging 8.0 (3rd in the conference). It seems like a wash to me……

Ryan may not be 6'8" but I don't think Collison is 6'10" either….. he was listed at 6'9" in college and they don't usually understate height. I doubt the measurement for Collison is any more "official" than for Spangler.

I don't think the comparison is too far fetched. Unfortunately for Ryan, those couple of inches are a big deal. He won't be the 12th player drafted like Collison was. However, I meant it as a compliment to Ryan to say he does the "little things" that go unnoticed like Collison does.

Just a friendly disagreement.

collison measured 6'8 and 3/4 w/o shoes 6'10 w/ shoes .. and 255 at the combine ..

7'1.5 wing span 9 foot standing reach

Most people have a wing span roughly equal to their height. That's a big advantage to Collison to have that big of a wing span.

Who the heck cares... Freaking enjoy them... Before long theyll be gone. Spangler is a great hardworking dude.

Man next year is going to suck.

Buddy, spangler, thomas, cousins are going to the nba.
And dj bennet will leave the team for his music career

Role players in the NBA like Nick Collison were usually dominant in college. That's a giant step up in competition. As good as Spangler is... he's not near what Collison was in college.

again this is simply not true .. his jr numbers are every bit as good as collisons .. unless you are someone that only looks at PPG ... and ignores usage rate and efficiency numbers .. and per 40 min numbers

And Hollis Price was one of the best guards in the country his senior year. How did his NBA career go?

College success isn't the only predictor of NBA success.

Spangler is not an NBA player. Doubt he even gets a sniff.

You believe Spangler would be as dominant in Collison's role at KU?

I just don't see it. Glad he plays for OU though.

Completely agree...all about potential and size in the NBA...if your going to play in the NBA when your undersized at your position you better bring a unique skill set for your position or an insane amount of
Athleticism...Spangler has neither. But I tell you one thing I absolutely LOVE the dude as a college player! And he works harder while on the floor then anyone I've ever seen.

Some of you need to stop acting like it is a slight to a player to say he wont play in the NBA. The nba consists of 30 teams with an average roster size of 14. That equals 420 players in the NBA. That is the best 420 players in the entire world. Saying Spangler is not in the top 420 is not disrespectful. Spangler is a really good college player providing very good minutes to our very good team. We would not be where we are without him, but he is not going to play in the NBA. He will be able to continue to play oversees if he wants and will make good money doing it.
