Former Sooner Memories: Jameel Heywood

I'll have to apologize for my memory being so bad (yes, Booger, I really am old enough to be your daddy). But was that the game where Johnnie Gilbert just went off on the jayhawks in the first half? The kid was so jacked up that he almost collapsed from exhaustion and Kelvin had to take him out. But Kansas had no answer for Johnnie in that first half. Don't believe I've ever seen anyone play as hard as Gilbert played that day.
That was Jabahri Brown, owner of the Kansas Jayhawks, haunter of Nick Collison's nightmares.

And the game in question where he was out on the court for a few minutes was the 2003 game in Norman. We won, but we wouldn't have won had Szendrei not come off the bench and grabbed 10 or 11 boards. Awesome performance.

Thanks, 04. Of course it was Jabahri. Don't know why I was thinking of Johnnie. Anyway, I'll never forget that game (even if I can't get the players' names right). Jabahri is one of my all-time favorite Sooners, even if I wanted to kick his behind for the manner in which he allowed his Sooner career to come to an abrupt end). Can anyone provide an update on where Jabahri is now and if he's still playing basketball? I'm sure its probably been posted here recently, but if so, I missed it.

In a lot of ways Heywood was the perfect Sampson big. He was strong, played hard, and coordinated (semi). He also could care less about scoring which was something Sampson liked out of at least one of his two bigs in the starting lineup.
