Fouling when down 13? Why Jeff?

I was once in the "sunshine pumper" group on the old board under Kelvin as well... Me, Ada, Bigtime, Sooner04, and several others were all in the same boat. I remember going back and forth with SoonerfanTU, Ghost of Bud, and other Kelvin bashers on a regular basis. In fact, I was asked to help them start this board up and was one of the original moderators.

Now, I am on the other side. Either way, I am a realist. Things were good under Kelvin, and I loved watching OU basketball then. The posts reflected that. Now, things suck under Capel and OU basketball is barely watchable. The posts reflect that.

Oh well...
Exactly, but the records under Kelvin didn't really justify not liking him. Yes people say we lost a ton in the first round. But from about 1999-2005 or so. We had one of the top records in the Big 12 in the NCAA Tournament. It was something like 11-5 during that time. In Capel's first 5 years. We won't even make the post season in 3 of the first 5. And take out the 30 win season we barely even have a .500 record in 4 of the 5 years.

My only complaints during the KS years were the first-round exits. Of course, he righted the ship there.

But, my REALLY big beef was watching us offensively. HOLY COW!!! I realize our averages were not bad, but sheesh, we'd ROUTINELY go on 8 minutes scoring droughts. People upset about last night's game seem to forget the OU-Mizzou Big XII title game where we scored what 10-12 points the entire second half to get to like 48 pts and win by a couple of points. I don't think we scored a bucket after the first few minutes of the second half.

With that said, I LOVED those teams because of the defensive prowess and the heart they showed. That was KS's best traits as a coach - defense and getting kids to buy in...

When a team is in a losing streak the coach can't win. If Capella doesn't have our guys fouling there would have been people on here harping that the team quit. He has them foul and he gets ragged. Could it be that he wants his team to play the same down 13 as down 3? You think they might need the practice? Give it a rest.

Do you remember the anger Capel dropped on Godbold when he dribbled out the final possession in a game we were losing?

You are probably one of the clowns who complained about Chuck Long when he was OC, and said you wanted Kevin Wilson, and then you complained about him. I bet you will be one who boos Josh Heuple the first game we lose.

You are a hypocrite. You blast Kelvins teams in one sentence because they had the long scoring droughts, even though the won most of those games (including the one you reference), but in the next sentence you defend Capel for the exact same thing.

I would say you are the worst type of OU basketball fan because you didn't like Sampson just because the games he coached weren't pretty and so you clamored for a change and now you don't have the decency to man up, like Gutter just did, and admit you were wrong.

I'm glad you put me on ignore, BTW. I just wish I was such a nazi that I could do the same to the people I disagree with, but I believe in free speech.

What does him putting you on ignore because he's tired of reading your nonstop bash Capel for everything rhetoric have to do with free speech?

You come across as an intelligent person, you figure it out.

Actually, he put me on ignore because he asked me to quit posting negatively. I explained I call it as I see it...if something positive is occuring, then I am one of the first to post positively, just like during/after the 4 game winning streak. But, when it's negative, I will post it as I see it then, too. I then asked him to either put me on ignore or just don't read my posts. He chose the former.

Basically, he wanted to censure me. That is not free speech.

OMG!!!! I'm actually glad someone quoted this...do I need to go get the PM you sent specifically telling me to add you to my ignore list???

Why don't you get the one you sent me before that? It's much juicier and displays the type of fan you are.

I've never used the words sunshine pumper in my life and I always thought Kelvin was a good coach. But, yeah, sure, I had my criticisms of him over the years. I probably speak for a few others when I say the pathetic state of OU basketball has made me realize we had it even better than I thought under him and, were he to coach here again, I would appeciate the things he did really well (teach defense, effort, have a substitution plan) rather than nitpick the things he did not do so well. I would take Kelvin back in heartbeat.

To answer Booger, hell no I am not happy.

I give it up to you, this was a classy response.
